Re: Tuning not kicking on when tx

It would help to know what operating system you are using - Windows or Linux, and what ham radio software application you are using as well.? I would start like the one gentleman said and check your sound control settings in Windows or Alsamixer in Linux / Debian.?

With the Signal link you adjust everything via the knobs on it.? With the Digirig it is all software control.?

You mention tuner, I think you meant transmitter.? Does the radio key for transmission?? If so your PTT circuit is good if not you need to work on that.?

FLrig does a good job.? Maybe find out if you can use another radio setting if your's isn't listed in the setup.? WSJT-X uses Hamlib behind the scenes if your radio is listed.? If not you can use FLrig by selecting Flrig Flrig in the radio selection.

Hope this helps.? I am not a duty expert on your radio.

Hi Don

When I ran into this I went to home directory and just removed the 73linux directory and reentered the command to run 73linux.

How do I get back to that? I won't select GPS this time. When I re-ran the GitHub install command, it said there was already a 73 Linux directory in my home folder.

I just want to restart the software selection process. Does anyone know the command to do that??

Which radio are you using? Someone else may have the rig and can jump in with suggestions.

Re: Tuning not kicking on when tx

I loaded 73 Linux on a laptop and I have a similar problem, I¡¯m not getting any sound on my radio waterfall indicating that my Digirig is putting out a signal. I am doing 2meter packet, and there is no cat control in Flrig for my particular radio. It seems to be on HF radios listed in Frig. The Flrig VOX setting was a major part of Jason¡¯s setup videos for 73 Linux, and seems only to work if your radio is listed in Flrig.

Change Callsign

Installed way to late at night and fat fingered my call sign on install. Do I need to start over? Or can I change?

Wow, in the spirit of Ham radio I won't berate you over your hostility nor shall I use any profanities.

It only takes a few minutes to Google 73 Linux you'll glean the knowledge you seek!

Always better to ask nicely...

Well, that response is essentially worthless. There are no "details" on
GitHub that I can find. It says "73 Linux is the next evolution of Build

What does 73Linux do? Why would I install it? What does it offer? What

Did you notice 73Linux ***NEWBIE***? I know almost nothing other than

Sir:
Your reply came across to me as somewhat confrontational.
If? I may, I would assume, since you have your HAM ID in your signature, you were looking for applications or systems that run Ham Software, with 'easier' ways of installing said packages.

Fix for Conky background on Pi (Wayland)

From this post - /g/KM4ACK-Pi/message/13625
credit - Robert Nazro
?
These changes should be made in the .conkyrc file found in your home directory. Note the "." in front of the file name. This indicates that it is a hidden file.
?
OK changing the gap-y =10 to:
gap_y = 50,
moved the conky box down below the task bar.
That change along with:
own_window = true,
own_window_type = 'normal',
own_window_transparent = false,
own_window_hints = 'undecorated,sticky,skip_taskbar,skip_pager,below',
own_window_colour = '#000000',
own_window_argb_visual = true,
own_window_argb_value = 0,
?
Note: I edited the last value to 0 instead of his recommended 15.

Re: 73Linux Newbie

73Linux installs after loading the Raspberry Pi OS.? Details can be found here: ?

73Linux Newbie

I'm building up another computer for my RV. I've got an RPi 3B+ in a
SmartiPi Touch case with the 7 inch touchscreen. I see that 73Linux is a
ham package for install. Is that a complete distribution, or do I need
to install a basic RaspberryOS first, then do the 73Linux thing? I'm not
really finding a listing of what all 73Linux can do for me. I'd like to
have things like HamClock, fldigi suite, APRS, and a few other odds and
ends.

I'm also looking for suggestions for some kind of audio interface and
12V power supply, preferably in a HAT.

Thanks for any tips and info.

Re: Error installing webchat on Pi4 / bookworm

There seems to be a translate error when I copy/pasted, it should have been:

I really don't like the lack of a preview here... Oh well...

Glad you got it working...

Re: Error installing webchat on Pi4 / bookworm

Kevin,

I wanted to update you on my progress with the Webchat / python3 issue. Again thank you for your input. I was able to install Webchat successfully.

However on my install, there was no?~/.conf/pip-.pip.conf file. Specifically no .conf folder but rather a .config folder. In the .config folder there was no pip.conf file, so I opted for the global solution you suggested - add "break-system-packages = true" in the /etc/pip.conf file. This was the fix for me.

Thank you Kevin, I greatly appreciate your input.

Re: Error installing webchat on Pi4 / bookworm

Edited

Not quite true, as there are several solutions to " Bookworm now requires it to be in a virtual environment. "
?
1) it's not a Bookworm issue, it's a Python 3 issue.

2) The easiest break-fix is to add " --break-system-packages" to the end of the install line.
?
3) Next 'easiest' break-fix is to add "break-system-packages = true"
????????? to ~/.config/pip/pip.conf (preferred) or globally in /etc/pip.conf
? ? ?you could do
?????????
? ? ? ?? mkdir -p ~/.config/pip
???????? echo "break-system-packages = true" | sudo tee -a ~/.config/pip/pip.conf
or
? ? ? ?? echo "break-system-packages = true" | sudo tee -a /etc/pip.conf
or

4) go through the 'learn python virtual environments' lessons fount in YouTubes...
?
I have added the first solution under #3 to my setup new images
scripts for myself. It presets and pre-installs a number of things,
including sendemail, Python Get Gridsquare, openssl, pam
authentication, dos2unix, samba, ntfs-3g, gcc make, git, neofetch (now
removed from debian trixie repos) net-tools, conky, curl and more...
it presets some config files like above, copies other config files
over from a samba share, and otherwise makes my life easier.
