Error installing webchat on Pi4 / bookworm

Hello,

Trying to install webchat, located at github.com/km4ack/webchat. I get the following error:

If you wish to install a non-Debian-packaged Python package,
create a virtual environment using python3 -m venv path/to/venv.
Then use path/to/venv/bin/python and path/to/venv/bin/pip. Make
sure you have python3-full installed.

note: If you believe this is a mistake, please contact your Python installation or OS distribution provider. You can override this, at the risk of breaking your Python installation or OS, by passing --break-system-packages.

sed: can't read /home/pi/bin/webchat/webchat.desktop: No such file or directory

Please note, I do have python3-full installed. Thanks in advance.

Re: Grid Square not set in Pat Configure File Run 'pat configure' to fix

Thanks for the suggestion.? I'm not exactly sure what it was supposed to do but it didn't change anything.
?
Even though I have FLrig running before I start PAT, it can't get my rig info.? Any other ideas.

Re: Grid Square not set in Pat Configure File Run 'pat configure' to fix

Adding the following worked for me:

Edit /etc/profile and add the following at the end:

export XDG_CONFIG_HOME=$HOME/.config

reboot.

None of the options on PAT menu make any difference in changing the program.? All of the config files show the Location and my grid square.? Re: CW Decoder

Awesome, that's. I'm give it a shot
?

Re: CW Decoder

I'm not a CW guy but FLDIGI has a CW decoder built in and it's available on 73Linux. FLDIGI is also cross platform.

CW Decoder

Hey all,
Relatively new here. Is there CW Decoder in 73 Linux? Working on my General and haven't had time to start learning CW, but if like to be able to decide what's being sent until I get more fluent.?
If not, can someone recommend a decent software solution, preferably one that is cross platform.?
?
Thanks and 73

Firefox and Chromium

I'm unable to run the browser. Chromium sits there with the hour class, then quits. Firefox ESR runs and crashes. I tried it from the terminal. It said there was a brower?(firefox) running and YAAC was controlling it.?
Inovota Quadra had firefox but it's not even on.

I have have to reflash the SD card

Re: Grid Square not set in Pat Configure File Run 'pat configure' to fix

No such luck.? I have tried the Repair Pat Config option.? I have tried the Manual Grid Update and GPS Grid Update too.? So far, nothing works.? I even created a new config through the menu.? It didn't have the LOCATION line in it.? I added it just below my callsign and that made no difference.
?
In Conky, it shows PAT as active even though I have shut it down.? FLRIG and FLDIGI status changes as I start and end them but PAT stays active.
?
So far, I'm thinking the install hiccupped and PAT didn't get installed correctly.
?
Time for a reinstall??

Re: Grid Square not set in Pat Configure File Run 'pat configure' to fix

Before reinstalling, in Pat Menu try Manage Pat Winlink>Repair Pat Config

Re: Grid Square not set in Pat Configure File Run 'pat configure' to fix

I've verified the line "locator": "DN40AP", is in the config.json file.? This file does have my call sign and my Winlink password? but the "hamlib_rigs" and "my-rig" and both blank.? I'm wondering if it? would be detrimental to run the script again and only select Pat?? I'm thinking along the line of the suggstion to do this for VARA.? Otherwise I'm dead in the water with Pat.

Re: Grid Square not set in Pat Configure File Run 'pat configure' to fix

The config.json file was the one I was referring to. It seems this relates to the bug in issue 98. ?

73 Linux questions

¿ªÔÆÌåÓý

Greetings:

?

Two questions regarding the updated 73 Linux build:

?

1.?????? Does it support Bookworm64?

2.?????? Does it have the ability to distribute the audio input to multiple applications simultaneously?

For example, the ability to run fldigi, JS8Call or other apps at the same time?

( Sometimes this is called bi-mode or tri-mode operation)

?

If it can support multiple audio streams, what apps on the menu do you install to accomplish this?

Re: Grid Square not set in Pat Configure File Run 'pat configure' to fix

I have looked in the "config" file in the patmenu2 folder and I don't see a line for it.? Is there another file it could be in?? When I execute "pat configure" the file it opens (config.json) has my grid in it on a line labeled "locator".
Beyond that, I'm lost to find it.

Re: Grid Square not set in Pat Configure File Run 'pat configure' to fix

Have you set it in the Pat Configure file?

Re: Grid Square not set in Pat Configure File Run 'pat configure' to fix

I just installed this on a Pi5 and am getting this error.? When I run Pat configure I get the message like I entered help.? I can't find where to update the grid square. Every where I look it's already there but this message keeps coming up when I startup.

Re: Conky location issue

OK changing the gap-y =10 to:
gap_y = 50,
moved the conky box down below the task bar.
That change along with:
own_window = true,
own_window_type = 'normal',
own_window_transparent = false,
own_window_hints = 'undecorated,sticky,skip_taskbar,skip_pager,below',
own_window_colour = '#000000',
own_window_argb_visual = true,
own_window_argb_value = 15,

makes the Conky box transparent.
If you use the Conky tab to change size you will need to go into the setconky?file in bin/conky and make the same changes or it with overwrite the info in the conkyrc file and you will be back to where you started.
make a copy of each file and rename them, for safekeeping?and then make your changes. experiment. It's a great way to learn and get confident working in the code.
