Re: New Mint on Wo-We 73 Linux build - Packet modem failed to start
Oddly Enough.....
?
I unplugged the USB radio interface cable to my IC-705 and moved it to another port on the Wo-We and no more KISSATTACH issues.? I moved it back to the original port and it worked there also.? So my problem is fixed but I don't know how if got fixed. |
Re: New Mint on Wo-We 73 Linux build - Packet modem failed to start
¿ªÔÆÌåÓýHi Dave I don't have any answer for you, but maybe you can help me a little. I also have a Wo-We and haven't found the magic way to get into the bios to overwrite the disk with my Xubuntu OS. Any help on the magic. Marty kd8bj

New Mint on Wo-We 73 Linux build - Packet modem failed to start
My first time trying to run a new Mint/73Linux build on a Wo-We PC.? I am getting a PACKET modem failed to start AFTER seeing Conky Indicate that DIREWOLF is running but KISSATTACH failed to go ready.? I opened /etc/ax25/ax25ports and saw two entries for WL2K.? My other working system has only one so I took the extra one out.? Same results.? Where are the messages going that PAT Menu interprets as a modem failed to start?
?
When I try the command listed in PATMenu for the Kiss attach (sudo /usr/sbin/kissattach /tmp/kisstnc) on both the working and non-working system I get the same error message:
?
usage: kissattach [-b] [-l] [-m mtu] [-v] tty port [inetaddr]
?
Any ideas?
?
Thanks
Dave

Re: The #ardop Modem FAILED to Start
#ardop
Do you have ardopc64 or ardopcf? I'm thinking you have ardopcf. If you have ardopcf, change your pat menu config file so the ardop command line points to ardopcf. Here's my what it would look like. Note that on my command it also makes the ardop gui available on port 8514 (which I have a bookmark set up for on my browser).

Re: 73Linux and HSTools
Thank you for your reply. I have installed the latest version, but the hotspot does not start when there is no WiFi present. I have not seen any interface that would allow me to enable it. Essentially, I have to run my pone and AP on it to connect Pi and the large screen tablet.?
Could you please point me into right direction since I am not a Linux person. Thank you!

I¡¯m having the same issue. Brand new to Linux. Was trying to set this up and stumbled in here. Updating didn¡¯t work in my case.? |
Re: The #ardop Modem FAILED to Start

Run 73Linux and update Pat Menu. Should clear the issue.

The #ardop Modem FAILED to Start
#ardop
Because:
?
There was an error creating the child process for this terminal
Failed to execute child process "/usr/loca/bin/ardopc64": Failed to execute: No such file or directory
?
I looked in /usr/local/bin/ and indeed, ardopc64 does not exist there.
?
Is there something else in that directory that the config should be pointing to?

Once you join the JS8Call group, just search for "Dropbox." Someone in the group has compiled the latest dev version of JS8 and posted for several OSs (except macOS) on their Dropbox. I don't know if you're asking about Linux Mint or RPi but I have run the latest dev of JS8 on my Mint (and Fedora 41) install(s) from his Dropbox.

Re: KX2 - FT8 works, JS8Call does not
I ran into that when I installed a new version of flrig. Js8call hasn't been updated in a while and uses an older version of hamlib that conflicts with the hamlib in flrig for some rigs. There are some updated builds available for js8call, but I'm not sure where to get them. There's a groups io group for js8call - they can probably help you out? |
Re: Mint 22 with Evolve III and IC-705 No packet transmit audio
Follow-up.? I posted the fix for this problem yesterday but it fell into the bit bucket.? Let's see if this one sticks.
?
After several hours of testing with various modes and applications and getting now transmit audio into the radio I watched a video on setting up a IC-705 with USB input and the fix was there.? What I changed was under SET>CONNECTORS> MOD Input>DATA OFF MOD should be set to MIC,USB.? Mine was set to MIC only and none of the audio from the laptop was being "heard" by my radio.? Everything is working as expected.

Mint 22 with Evolve III and IC-705 No packet transmit audio
I am using an Icom IC-705 using the USB port for control and audio.? I just did a clean build on my Evolve laptop to Mint 22 and everything appears to work except AX.25 with PAT.? It will set the frequency OK and key the rig but it is producing no transmit audio as monitored on another radio.? VARA FM creates transmit audio from PAT just no packet audio.? ?On the 705 the transmit power is set to 50%
?
I suspect something is wrong in direwolf but the config shows ADEVICE plughw:3.0 and the arecord -l command returns?
card 3: CODEC [USB Audio CODEC}, device 0: USB Audio [USB Audio]
?
I am using FLRig for rig control.? When I run? direwolf -p from the command window it receives audio OK from other stations on the frequency.? Just no transmit audio.
?
Any ideas?
Thanks, Dave - KD7UM |
Re: KX2 - FT8 works, JS8Call does not
That's a rig control issue, so take a close look at your rig control settings. That is rig specific so talking to someone with that rig would be most helpful. Also, you could try using FLrig for rig control too. Setup FLrig for your radio and in js8call change rig control to FLrig. KX2 - FT8 works, JS8Call does not
I know this is Elecraft KX2 specific, but Jason suggested I post here for possible help.
?
I am trying to get started on JS8Call, and am having problems. I set up FT8 a few years ago, made a couple contacts, and didn't go back to it. Today, I re-setup FT8 (new computer) and make contacts. I set JS8Call up with the same settings, but am getting this error:
Rig Failure
Hamlib Error: IO error while opening connection to rig.
?
I am using a Sabrent sound card with the Mic, Phones and ACC all plugged into a USB splitter if that matters. I have very little experience with Digital modes. Any direction would be appreciated. Thx.

73Linux and HSTools
Hi,?
?
I am new to this topic but I was not able to find HSTools in the latest BuiltaPI aka 73Linux.? I decided to refresh the install on my PI4 and I quicky discovered that that there is a new distribution called 73Linux. This is fine but, the key component HSTools seems to be missing. I have run the installation command just for the HSTools and then I manually added the HSTools to the menu. However, when there is no WiFi signal available the AP on the PI does not start automatically like it used to. Which turns the entire installation useless outside of the house.?
?
I wonder if I did something wrong or perhaps this is a "feature" or a bug.? Thank you for your help!

73 linux instal stalled at "old data directory will be saved at...."
#73linux
Hello all.? I once used build a pi but it has been a while. Saw that 73 linux works on linux distros and figured I would load it onto a Lenovo 14W Gen2 running Mint.? Low end?laptop but should be more than enough to run 73.
?
Anyway. install was cranking along nicely until this screen appeared. I cannot get past it. Any ideas? I am fairly new to Linux and assuming it is something simple.
?
Thanks
