Re: GPS and Build-a-Pi V3
I, too, run Build-a-Pi 3.0.3 on a Pi 3B+.? When I boot up, my GPS is assigned to "/dev/ttyACM0".? Occasionally, my pi changes the GPS to a different port, usually /dev/ttyACM1 or ACM2.? I suspect one cause is RF, but I am not sure yet.? When this happens, Conkey cannot see the GPS anymore, and all of the data columns in cgps (PRN, Elev, Azim, SNR, and USED) are blank.? A reboot brings everything back to normal.? I suspect you may be experiencing the same thing.? I suspect that the GPS daemon is looking for the GPS to be on /dev/ttyACM0, not on dev/ttyACM1.? (Jason may be able to shed light on this).
Right after a reboot, open the terminal and type cgps as Jason suggested, but do it before you start any other programs.? Take note of the device at the third or forth line from the bottom "device":"/dev/ttyXXXX" and let us know what you see.? You will be helping me troubleshoot my "moving device" as well as your inability to read the GPS problem. Mark, KE6BB |
None of my Pi's are showing on network _ HELP
I'm copying a post I made to the Raspberry pi ham radio group.
I have installed BAP on two of the PI's and that may or may no be an issue. I need your help, Pi gurus. After I changed my router none of the PI's that I use for Ham Radio show up. I know what you are about to say - you have to change the settings for the network. Here's what I have done without luck:
The PI's are 3B, 4 (4gb), and a jumbospot. Thanks in advance K7TP |

¿ªÔÆÌåÓýGetting onto APRS.FI is not a function of the sending station EXCEPT for being heard.? The way it works is your transmit and a station that is forwarding via internet to the APRS servers hears you.? This is then captured via the APRS.FI process. ? You may be transmitting but if you are not hitting an internet feed station you will not get onto APRS.FI. ? Don, W4GFQ ? From: [email protected] <[email protected]> On Behalf Of Tim Meyer

Re: GPS and Build-a-Pi V3
¿ªÔÆÌåÓýI was having problems with mine.? I used to have to unplug it and reseat it in order for it to start reading data. ? It has to have a clear line of site with the satellites so I installed a USB extension cord to get it over at the window sill.? ? Now I just wait a few minutes and it tracks on its own.? ? Hope that helps. ? Jeremy Pierce KM6QAQ ? From: [email protected] <[email protected]> On Behalf Of km4ack

Re: Chromebook
Chrome OS is a special case of Linux....so you can't run a linux program directly....and not at all on older Chromebooks. However, you can run Linux programs under a special provision on new CB's. Now, I don't know if you could really run Jason't Build a Pie. Though, I would guess that you could run some of the Ham software....in some manner.? Here's a project for someone with a new CB go for it....s???? Ken KB4XT |

Jeremy,
Chromebooks change rather quickly. A matter of months sometimes.??Good chromebooks are more expensive than you would think.??There is a decent website / youtube channel that talks about them, Http://Chromeunboxed.com I really like the little Lenovo ChromebookDuet ($299).??Get it from Best Buy as they have an exclusive model that has double the storage: The Duet is smaller and also has a tablet mode.
