Re: Possibly cascading issues with VARA and Wine? with Build-A-Pi

Thanks for the note of encouragement (hihi). I was running the update tool (when I said BAP - that is what I meant). I have enough invested in setting this up (and enough things working: PAT, FLRIG, ARDOP, X25 (with direwolf), Cronky, WSJT-X), that I don't really want to start over. I will stop and think a bit...

Re: In Pi Menu - updating forms doesn't update forms...

You may have found a bug in Pat. The developer of Pat hangs out in this forum - Try posting there and see if they have a resolution.

Re: SOLVED :: Can the conky display be moved to a second monitor?

SOLVED!
Thanks Jason,

The link that you provided led me to a solution to repositioning conky to my right side monitor (HDMI1).
??

First? to Preferences -> Add/Remove Software and Add xdotool.? I ran "xdotool getmouselocation --shell" in terminal to get mouse coordinates of top left corner of the current conky desktop display on left monitor (HDMI2).? Next I put the mouse cursor at the new position for?the top left corner of conky desktop display on the right monitor (HDMI 1).??Again I?used "xdotool getmouselocation --shell" in terminal to get mouse coordinates.?
Calculated the difference on the x axis.? This became the starting point for changing the value of gap_x.
Original value:? gap _x= 10.?
Difference in mouse position coordinates on x-axis (2783 - 1505) = 1278.
New value:? gap_x= -1275.
After minor tweaking of gap_x and gap_y,?conky is positioned top right on right monitor (HDMI 1).? ;-)

Possibly cascading issues with VARA and Wine? with Build-A-Pi

I was successfully using VARA via PAT. And then (after installing a few more apps - and getting ARDOP working), the VARA modem failed to start. I ran build-a-pi and it failed with the following message:
install_winelink.sh: line 589: wine: command not found
Downloading wine . .?

10 minutes later it still said Downloading wine.

I ran BAP again - and it said VARA was not installed. I let the run of the update-tool finish (it appeared to finish cleanly) and rebooted. Then ran the update-tool again - it said VARA was not installed - so I checked it to install. And I get this same failure:
install_winelink.sh: line 589: wine: command not found
Downloading wine . .?

Re: In Pi Menu - updating forms doesn't update forms...

Same result running inside the pat mailbox

pat env | grep -i version
PAT_VERSION="0.15.0"

Re: BAP > 73Linux upgrade

No. GPS isn't required for getting time if you have an internet connection.

Re: SOLVED :: Can the conky display be moved to a second monitor?

Great question! Never tried but maybe someone else has attempted this and can chime in. A quick search says it's possible
but the post is 10 years old. Things might have changed.

Re: In Pi Menu - updating forms doesn't update forms...

Try updating from inside the Pat Mailbox. Action->Update Form Templates

Which version of Pat are you running? If unsure, run:
pat env | grep -i version

SOLVED :: Can the conky display be moved to a second monitor?

I recently upgraded my raspberry pi 4B 4GB ham control center with a second monitor. Great deal at the thrift shop!
I am running Raspberry PI OS Bullseye 64bit and 73Linux. Both monitors are displaying a continuous desktop and mouse pointer moves as expected from on to the other.

Currently, the conky image is top right on my left (21.5" diagonal ONN primary HDMI2) monitor working almost perfectly.? I say almost because the conky transparent image is just a noticeable shade darker than the desktop background and conky's image? doesn't exactly align to the rest of the desktop.? I am using the sands desktop to minimizes that mismatch.?

I would like to move the conky image to my second (19" diagonal LG HDMI1) monitor on the right.
What can I do?

Thanks in advance for any advice.

Here are my latest issues.?

Re: Trouble with Build a PI 4

Edited

Hello all. I am having a similar difficulty with my set-up. I can get the Pi to talk to VNC but I cannot get it to sync with the time a la NTP. The date is ok but the time is not it is 16:27 Zulu right now and yet the Pi will not sync with the time. It IS connected to the internet. I want to divorce myself from Vodafone - which works ok - and move to An Post mobile (which uses the Vodafone infrastructure afaik) to save a few shillings (e15 p/m!!!). Does anyone have any ideas? I am still tied to Vodafone for a while but I really would like to run my Pi using An Post. TIA, Tryg

Re: BAP > 73Linux upgrade

Ericson - J73ESL

having Vara Run in Bap on the Pi is akin to pulling teeth. it is running in 73Linux?..also the 73linux?is a lot more streamlined. Still unable to make a contact on wsjtx or send a Winlink message.
so my other question, is it absolutely necessary?to have the GPS dongle even if i am using an ethernet cable in the shack? i definitely cannot get a gps lock from inside the shack.

Re: VaraHF pi4 Pat menu error

I actually just realized I didn¡¯t select VaraHF from the transport drop down. I¡¯m so close now! Although it keyed the 891, it didn¡¯t change the frequency like I thought it would. This isn¡¯t an issue in wsjtx. I will continue to find a station to connect with.

Re: VaraHF pi4 Pat menu error

Ok this is getting me closer! It now loads up and when I go to action and try to make a connection I am now getting this error in the console.
