Re: Pi 5

No experience yet with the board i linked.I probably won't try it until i get a pi 5?

Re: Pi 5

Has this charging board been checked for RFI, please?

Also, since it's only rated just at 5A - how hot is it likely to run?

Perhaps a DC-DC converter that's RFI-clean and rated for 7 or 10 amps?

I have been reading a little about the pi 5. and watching some Youtube videos. It requires a 5 amp p/s and I believe it negotiates for higher voltages via the USB-C charging protocols. Most of the 12v to USB adapters we use in ham radio aren't capable of that.
A solution like this one may need to be included in our kit if we want to get full power from the pi 5.? ?

Looks very nice!

Wow, great answer!!
As you can see in each of four screenshots, FireFox Browser, originally underneath everything, "floats" now! .... I used the Create-Launcher app.

On my Lenovo Tiny M93P Linux Mint shows WINE on the start menu. I do see Vara, Vara FM. NO Vara Chat.
Vara HF works like a hot knife through butter. Packet and Ardop do not. Grrh

Jim or Heather Wineteer

In mint there is a beautiful task switcher / workspace view accessible by ctrl-alt-up cursor.
But it doesn't do auto tiles or whatever it's called like PopOS!? Which is nice too.

There is I3.? I have not used it, but it might be just the ticket for you.

Here is a simplified typical example of what problems I encounter in day to day operations with Linux.

That FLRig box will always be hidden by certain other types of programs.

In order to write this problem, here using a Firefox web-browser, I had to minimize VarAC and FLRig as they over-wrote the browser.

FLDIGI remains hidden along with Flrig. The list goes on and on.

where is a setting where I can equalize all applications whether Native or ham programs installed by me?

thanks

Re: having sound card issues

this has nothing to do with RFI. the pi simply does not see the digirig. works perfectly fine with a signal link device..... TX power was set at 20%

Re: Help troubleshooting ARDOP connections #ardop #pat #winlink

Edited

I seemed to have better performance and got a single connection after placing "--leaderlength 320" without the quotes in the ARDOP command line of PAT menu config, in between the .piardopc command and the port number. I did this in PAT menu by going into settings/config then current configs settings. My ARDOP command for my sound card looked like this when finished-/home/pi/ardop/./piardopc --leaderlength 320 8515 plughw:3,0 plughw:3,0
It may be different with your sound card, but the important part was putting the --leaderlength 320 between the .piardopc command and the port number. Just remember to have a copy of the original command line copied somewhere in case something messes up.
All that said, I am not sure if it actually made a difference or if I just got lucky right after adding the leaderlength change. I haven't had much time to test since then for consistency, but I at least connected for a bit.
This at least gives you something to experiment with until someone else can add to it. Others have said using 200 instead of 320 worked better for them, and I'm guessing some other numbers might as well. Good luck.
Bryan/KN4EBW

edit: I just re read your message. Do you mean you can't get Ardop to run at all, or that you can't get it to connect? Whichever it is, the more detail you can give about the rig you are using and settings, the more likely someone can help you.
