Re: BAP port 8080 clashing with default settings
Ericson - J73ESL
this has not fixed my issue. i run the command hamclock -e 8100.. yes it does allow the hamclock to run, but when i close my terminal screen, hamclock also closes.. and if i restart the app. i get same issue.. also i changed the port in PAT, but the problems still persist.
some more guidance or help is needed please. regards De J73esl |

Ericson - J73ESL

Re: Vara on Debian-ARM How to: sept 1 2023
September ends and this is still a hit and miss engine fire on arm (vara)
but the work with win-arm sort of took the stage for interesting ideas which is all the mess likely for m1 like architecture? anyway - it¡¯s still bumpy on arm, here is to harvest season hope you have bountiful QSO¡¯s and 10 band activations!? Kelly? |
Re: Pi 4 power
¿ªÔÆÌåÓýI have a small converter 6-14vdc to 5v 8A. It work perfect of a 12v7ah battery fir my rpi with 7¡± tooch screen. I also added a usb hub -4port- so able to charge phone and etc. I bypassed the usb connector supply points as i use the external dc supply to itIt works well for me. Re: Pi 4 power
Be aware Pi¡¯s are fairly particular about their power supply. They need just the right amount of voltage AND amperage. And in my experience the bulk of the low cost buck converters have enough variance in their output (despite what their specs show) to possibly cause Pi ¡°Low Voltage¡± warnings and/or Pi shutdown.? For this reason I prefer buck converters with variable output adjustments for both voltage and amperage. Then you can adjust the thing to account for a miss on the specs, or more/less cabling resistance than expected. Here is one such example (but there are many others too):

Re: pat winlink vara digirig need help getting PTT to work using the wo-we
Hello Jason,
That was too simple.? Simple is good!? Worked first time! I will try vara FM this weekend. I'm almost inspired to try 73Linux on a fresh sdcard on the pi, for an even lower power portable solution.? :-) Thank you Karl 73 - K4GMV |
JS8Call Mobile with a Pi - trials and tribulations
VK2AHB
I asked a couple of months ago about using a non-CAT radio with JS8. I finally got it working with NO radio selected and DTR using a USB-Serial card that I had for the Arduino.
Next step: Get the right time. I started using the Pi Hotspot but it often took quite some? time for the correct time to lock in.? That was fixed by using a U-blox USB GPS. I use VNC on a Samsung Tab 8 through the Pi hotspot.? The problem now is that the tablet is quite slow and doesn't always decode.? Not to mention the awkwardness of using gestures on the tablet for mouse control :-( So I have come to the conclusion as Jason KM4ACK did, that trying to juggle these inputs and outputs is all too hard with the Pi.? So I guess it's look for a Linux mini-PC and start again. Paul VK2AHB |
Re: Vara Output
Install the hamlib(rigctl) software.

Re: pat winlink vara digirig need help getting PTT to work using the wo-we
For VARA HT & the G90/(tr)usdx, set up FLRIG for the radio. FLRIG will handle the PTT when you use Pat Menu to start the modem assuming you set Rig Control to Yes in the Pat Menu settings.
VARA FM is a completely different animal if you are using a radio like the FT65. This video will point you in the right direction. -- 73, de KM4ACK

Re: Vara Output
HI there
solved the problem...somehow.... Did a fresh install of Raspbian, than got 73Linux, installed Vara first, nothing else selected. Needed two or three attemps until Vara was installed. Then installed PAT, PATMenu. Now Vara finds the Output interface.. But PAT complains about rigctl :-( 73, Stephan -- Stephan Forth DF6PA Mainz Germany |

I personally use RTS keying on the radio going totally rudimentary for ptt and hand dials, ¡¡.sometime I even crank a dynamo-gen-set just to get shocked.? k |
pat winlink vara digirig need help getting PTT to work using the wo-we
I am using a digirig to G90, or (tr)usdx, or FT65R, each with digirig cables and several rf chokes added.
I installed 73Linux per the wo-we build video, on linux mint, and updated the vara hf modem to 4.77, per that video.? Easy!? Thank you! wsjtx and js8call work with the digirig using Flrig, but I have not been able to PTT any of the radios with pat winlink and the vara hf modem. Probably something simple I missed.? Is this going to need hamlib and rigctl?? Can anyone steer me to appropriate video(s) that will get the PTT working, and ideally also freq control?? I could set the freq manually on the radio, although freq control through the **connect** dialog of pat would be nice.? :-) I am hoping it will be as simple as the wo-we build and vara modem update, which was all a joy. Thank you. Karl K4GMV |
