Powerbank with 12v / 24v output

Guys, I saw this on Kickstarter and I backed it since I think it is a cool and useful product.

I think this would be useful for some hams doing POTA or a mobile setup. It also allows for solar input up to 25 volts, so you can recharge the guy while using it at a campsite or wherever.?

No association with the company that makes it -- but as I said I pledged for it on Kickstarter and I think it will make a great product.

Re: Pat/D75

I've confirmed that this also works for the Kenwood D74.

Re: Error RESTful server 8080

HamClock uses 8080 so does PAT. Change PAT to 5000 in Pat Configure (in terminal type Pat Configure, search for 8080, change it to 5000, and save it) and in Pat Menu settings.

Error RESTful server 8080

Sergei

Hello
After installing 73 Linux package on Raspberry Pi 5 I can¡¯t use HAM Clock.
Any time I open that app I¡¯m getting a message - RESTful server is using same port 8080.
Where and how I can update port settings?
Thanks!

Re: Meshtastic thoughts

Cool!

Yes I have a lot of friends and family that see the value of amateur radio for off-grid comms, but either aren't interested, or don't have the time to get their license.

It seems to me that Meshtastic is a good way to provide local comms, then linking it to winlink, or the BPQ BBS packet system similar to KM4ACK's EES app.

BTW, at least here in Ohio, there appears to be a resurgence of packet BBS systems with robust forwarding. Typically with bpq32.

Having a way to allow non-hams controlled third party access like KM4ACK's EES server seems to make sense to me

Re: linbpq rms not connecting

OK. I GOT IT WORKING. As expected, it was something stupid, but not really my fault except that I took way too long to figure it out.
?
I noticed that in the configurator it asks for Call sign: In Jason's video at around 11:35, he is very specific about adding an SSID there. In the original BPQ docs, it just asks for call sign as it does in the configurator. On a whim, I decided to try just the call sign. (I kind of thought I had already tried that, but after all these hours who knows.) Anyway, that completely solved the problem and I have a working node at W3IVH-9. Well, except for little things like a proper antenna and putting it somewhere I won't trip over the wires; you know, little things.
?
Thanks everyone for all your help. I really appreciate your encouragement and patience. 73.?

Thank you very much.

Re: APRS HF to APRS VHF and Vice versa #aprs #js8call #xastir #yaac

JS8Call is one way for APRS. You can send messages from JS8Call to APRS but messages from APRS cannot be sent to JS8Call.

Re: linbpq rms not connecting

An update, since so you all have been trying so hard to help...
?
Unfortunately, no real progress. I'm still looking at everyone's suggestions, but no breakthroughs yet. Today I "restarted" using exactly the same hardware and software as in the original video: Pi zero 2W, Signalink, Raspberry Pi Buster, and Build-A-Pi as the installer, with Jason's scripts. Started from dead scratch with an unused Pi and SD card. Followed the video EXACTLY. Same result.
?
I have a few things left to check, but I think I may take this over to the BPQ group soon and see what they say. Rest assured, I will post here when I achieve success (I should live so long). Thanks again, everyone. And as always, all suggestions welcome.

Re: Best Micro SD card for Raspberry pi 4

¿ªÔÆÌåÓý

There is a really nice and pretty in depth write up in the direwolf docs about some of this. For speed get off the sd and move to an ssd or something. The cards aren¡¯t made for caching, they work but it¡¯s not what they are made for.

Lots of nice cases out there that allow the ssd or make it easy to do. I found it to be night and day difference in performance!

Thanx, Tom

You can get an SSD 'hat' to use an SSD attached to the USB 3.0 (3.1?) port.

Class 10 cards are among the fastest, but an SSD is the preferred solution. There are many options, I like the Argon40 M.2 case, for example, but there are other boards and cases to consider.

Re: Question for Jason or anyone who knows

Run EES on an older version of Build-A-Pi, on a Raspberry 3B. Never had a problem. Gave a lot of demonstrations. I¡¯m no PI expert, and a dummy with Linux, but I¡¯d be glad to help if I can. Jason built a bullet proof application to run with PAT. I¡¯ve tinkered with using Telnet to transfer the messages between computers. Works great. It is always cool when deployed to turn your clients ¡°dead¡± cellphone back on¡to a limited degree. Am looking forward to whatever you guys develop. Re: Question for Jason or anyone who knows

Outstanding!? I have most of the gear here.? What I would love to do is set up a redundant?system where if one Pi goes out the other one can take over with little downtime.? I'm thinkin a shared network data drive with a block of cheap but name brand SSDs.? I'll get the basics done soon and improve as I go.
