I am setting up a Raspberry Pi 4 GB previously configured with Build-a-Pi for my new ICOM IC-705 using these two videos: ICOM 705 Build a Pi Setup Getting Started with KM4ACK Build a Pi This RPi was previously used successfully for Fldigi with a digirig and another radio. I have run the?Build-a-Pi Update-Tool, and flrig is controlling the IC-705 bi-directionally.? I worked through the two videos and configured?js8call, wsjtx, VARA, VARA FM, Pat Menu and Direwolf. All of the installed programs seem to test and work correctly with the Test RX and TX buttons, connecting properly, with flrig.? My problem is with Direwolf and Pat Winlink. I get errors when the Chrome browser opens to the Winlink mailbox. ¡°This site can¡¯t be reached 127.0.0.1:8080/ui¡±. (I previously used Pat Winlink on this RPi with Telnet, if that helps¡) Here is a screenshot showing my Pat Menu configuration. The Conky status shows RIGCTL ACTIVE, DIREWOLF ACTIVE and PAT ACTIVE: Here is a screenshot showing some errors when opening Direwolf from yesterday that may provide a clue (not appearing today): Running Direwolf from Menu

Re: Strange Direwolf YACC and XASTIR error: rig_set_ptt command for channel 0 PTT
Thanks Kelly:
I did try that and I get: Dire Wolf version 1.7
Includes optional support for:? hamlib cm108-ptt
?
Reading config file direwolf.conf
Audio device for both receive and transmit: plughw:3,0? (channel 0)
Channel 0: 1200 baud, AFSK 1200 & 2200 Hz, A+, 44100 sample rate / 3.
Retrying Hamlib Rig open...
and then Direwolf times out and closes. I'm assuming that I have to start FLrig first and it does control the frequency, etc. on the FT-817nd. Is that correct, or do I not start it and Direwolf somehow starts it to use it? I've never used this before. Dennis, K1YPP |

Jeff,?
I did not have the tuner attached.? But also I discovered that I had menu #85 set to Tuner, if I set #85 to Off, then I'm able to change #20. Thanks for your reply, I just bought the FT857D and am still trying to learn it. Mike |
Strange Direwolf YACC and XASTIR error: rig_set_ptt command for channel 0 PTT
I've been beating my head against the wall for close to a month now trying to get ANY Direwolf and YACC or XASTIR combo to build a digipeater, Igate combo.
I have an FT-817nd, RPi 3, Yaesu CAT cable CT-62 and the KM4ACK--Build-a-Pi burned into a flashdisk. Direwolf comes up running and receiving local packet traffic. Here is the startup info: Dire Wolf version 1.7
Includes optional support for:? hamlib cm108-ptt
?
Reading config file direwolf.conf
Audio device for both receive and transmit: plughw:3,0? (channel 0)
Channel 0: 1200 baud, AFSK 1200 & 2200 Hz, A+, 44100 sample rate / 3.
Hamlib determined CAT control serial port rate of 38400.
User configuration overriding hamlib CAT control speed to 4800.
Ready to accept AGW client application 0 on port 8000 ...
Ready to accept KISS TCP client application 0 on port 8001 ...

Now connected to IGate server noam.aprs2.net (199.204.38.35)

Communication timed out
It repeats very so often, no doubt when trying to do something wit Hamlib. More often than not the transmitter keys up and after about 12 seconds, goes off. I'm assuming it is the sum total of the times mentioned in the error message. I keep the transmitter at very low power so as not to block the channel 144.390 Mhz. If I use YACC instead, the error doesn't happen right away, but randomly shows up. The other thing that happens is that neither app seems to capture my beacons from my FT-5D. Eventually, a "superstation," about twenty miles away picks up the beacon and posts it to aprs.fi, but I never see it posted from my Igate, K1YPP-10. The Hamlib and controls seem to work fine in FLdigi, FLrig and WSJT-x. What can I post that will give some clues as to what isn't working properly? So, what should I look at and what am I doing wrong. I've watched a million videos, mostly KM4ACK, and haven't found anything that seems to cure this...HELP!!! Dennis, K1YPP |
Build a Pi for Xiegu G90
#ardop
#bap

#xiegu_g90
Hi, I just Build from cero a new SD for a Raspberry Pi 4B, with Raspberry Pi OS (Legacy) with desktop / Release date: December 5th 2023 / System: 32-bit / Kernel version: 6.1 / Debian version: 11 (bullseye)?
/Size: 894MB.
I have get working wsjtx and JS8call. But i am having difficults to get to work the Pat Winlink in ARDOP, I am not sure if the is any issue i have missed. The problem is that for Transmit does not activate the radio. But the cat control for changing the frequencies it works fine. I have tried the configuration of the ICOM 7100, with the same problem. Any ideas how did you set up ARdop for your G90 radio?? Below my settings for Ardop. Next running Ardop with the screen opened. 73 HP1GDS / George |
#FT-857D Digital Setup
#FT-857D
When setting up the 857 for digital use for FLRIG, I've encountered an issue when trying to change menu # 20 CAT/LIN/TUN.? Mine is set to TUN and it will not change; the only way that I have found to change it is by using Chirp, but if I turn the knob, it goes to TUN and it won't change back.? Is there another setting that is preventing me from changing it?? I have also read about a Pico fuse that if blown, it won't recognize the control cable.
Thanks, Mike |

take from that what you willMichael, your suggestion was the only one to provide a result. Steve, your suggestion to add the full string was insightful but unfortunately didn't work.? Still looking for an answer to the original question:??where does conky look for an apps current status? |
conky screen is an empty rectangle in fresh build a pi install
Just installed Build a Pi.? The first noticeable problem is that the conky display rectangle is blank and totally dark.? I know the gps is functioning as I checked that through terminal and all gps data is normal. ?? KF7KU |
Re: More GPS Winlink Bookworm woes
Yes, with the exception that it either doesn't get saved, or the Pat client isn't picking up the aliases. You mentioned previously that you don't use pat. In spite of that you have been a great help! I appreciate that a lot. Perhaps someone else that uses Pat could chime in. ? -- Mike WB8ERJ Geeze! What is he up to now? Re: More GPS Winlink Bookworm woes
Thanks Kelly for the reply. I took your second suggestion: "you could also set a bash string into the app for $XDG_CONFIG_HOME="~/.config" which would get any others missed." In the patmenu file this is what I added: export MYPATH=$HOME/patmenu2 LOGO=$MYPATH/pmlogo.png MAIN=$MYPATH/./patmenu XDG_CONFIG_HOME=$XDG_CONFIG_HOME=~/.config? ?<-- Just this line Next, I set the manage-pat-functions file back to the original ( seemed like the thing to do...)?PATCONFIG=$XDG_CONFIG_HOME/pat/config.json I started pat and yes, azimuth and distance appeared ( see attached). but when I tried to select an alias, none were shown. -- Mike WB8ERJ Geeze!
