Yes, hdmi_force_hotplug=1 has been uncommented all along. The lag I speak of is specific to Chromium.... Thanks for the suggestion...

Have you tried enabling hot_plug in config.txt? I have not seen lagging issues with mine that are headless, but I did enable hot_plug and set resolution in raspi-config. N0LOZ
