Update tool question

Hi folks, I just rebuilt a Pi4 and flashed a fresh copy of BAP to the pi. Build went fine with no errors, this is my 3-4th BAP pi. After all completed (overnight) and restarting, I went to the Pi dropdown menu specifically under BAP and the Update tool is not listed as an option. Is there a way I can add the update tool to the drop down menu? Thanks.

Re: Adding Pat Winlink Aliases or Favorite stations

I found a spot in Pat Menu > Manage Pat Menu > add P2P but I don't see adding Winlink Gateway for Vara.

Re: pi install #rpi

It is now?progressing on the install. the sudo rm command and then going to the repository on Github and now it is installing.

I did not change file permissions on the install. Just a standard install from Imager. Will see how this goes now.

My google-fu has been known to fail, too. Sometimes it's just a matter of picking the right key words...

As soon as you mention W10, I am lost. I haven't run a Windows machine in years. Linux Mint has the hotspot feature built in out of the box if you ever decide to dual boot. Glad that Kevin was able to point you in the right direction :-)

Re: BAP Ardop winlink gateway #ardop #winlink

Never set one up for ARDOP but I have a video on setting one up for packet that might provide some insight.

Have you already been approved by the Winlink dev team to be an admin? That approval is needed before your system will be allowed to connect to the CMS backend. If so, here's a great forum when you start configuring the gateway - /g/bpq32/topics

Re: Raspberry Pi 2023 Handbook

¿ªÔÆÌåÓý

The Raspberry Pi foundation, being a charitable organization focused on education makes (as far as I know) every one of their publications available free for download, like this handbook.

If you find their publications useful, consider making a small donation to support their efforts.

Re: BAP Ardop winlink gateway #ardop #winlink

I have a battery Lithium Go box (Xiegu)and just finished (OT) Build?a Pi on a HP Laptop (Intel) plus my mobile IC 7100. I have a JPC-12 Vertical Portable antenna. I can be on the air in about 20-30 Minutes. I'd have to carry the laptop, battery box and Xiegu to the back yard be on the air. I tried checking into Satern Net 14.325 & 7.268 from my mobile. My Hamstick just didn't have the power for east coast stations to hear my mobile. Using Digital like Winlink or JS8Call, I'm heard from California to Florida. I just with I get an answer when I call CQ.

Hey all,

I see a build from scratch video for 2m packet, but not anything really about a quick transform and for 20m band.

My goal is to quickly transform my station so I may support operators that may need help. Is this possible or should I look at building another setup?

Encountered?this after the rm-rf ~/pi-build.

much better :-) Let's see if we can get you back to square one. Run

Re: Using iPad as remote desktop?

@Tom: There are a large number of documentation sites out there. I used the key words of 'debian', 'access' and 'point' (debian being the base OS of RaspberryPiOS. I like:

and
https://www.cyberciti.biz/faq/howto-ubuntu-debian-squeeze-dhcp-server-setup-tutorial/

Most of the good directions include hostapd and a good dhcp server. I don't like using 'bridge' functions, unless I'm passing through services to my home network...

Subject: [KM4ACK-Pi] Use a good USB cable ¨C lesson learned

Until today, I have been playing with my BAP RasPi and QRP transceiver in my shack where everything is well grounded and I was using a grounded power supply to power both. Also using the permanent antennas that are connected to the same grounding system. Everything has been working great.

?

I moved to the back yard, set up a portable antenna, connected the RasPi and radio to a battery and attempted to operate. I had problems with the WIFI dying on the RasPi and noticed new noise on the transceiver, especially when I connected to the transceiver with Flrig.

?

The culprit was a cheap USB cable. I went to my pile of cables, leftover from previous devices, and selected one that was heavier built and had a noise filter on the end that connects to the radio. Problems solved. This shows the added benefit of good cables and a good grounding system. The first you can always take with you but the later is not always available.
