Re: VARA on PAT Winlink
#ardop
¿ªÔÆÌåÓýThanks all for input. The reason i was asking was that i heard a rumour that ardop is going to run the winmor route in the near future which is already a ?tragic loss for emcommVara is expensive to register too and yes they compare that to the cost of a pactor modem. As a sysop station i spend the money for pactor modems and a signalink interface. But i see redlights flashing around vara only for windows Would like to run complete sysop station on rpi as windows very unstable platform when it come to 24/7/365 operations. Re: VARA on PAT Winlink

¿ªÔÆÌåÓýIt was a terrible decision to accept VARA as a single-source, closed-code,single-platform app into the emcomm mix. That violates fundamental principles of a distributed and redundant fault-tolerant system. The sole developer isn't interested in doing the right thing - so an alternative to VARA needs to be written and VARA deprecated from the mix. I wish I had the coding skills ... but someone will step-up to the challenge ... preferably starting with Linux then porting to the rest (because that's the direction all OS's are going - to Linux-type base). IMHO, YMMV ... On 8/1/21 3:02 PM, Terry Hunt wrote:

Re: VARA on PAT Winlink

Search the group, it's been discussed.? Long story short, probably not (although there are people who have been trying to make?it work for a couple of years now). The author of VARA has no desire to see an ARM Linux version. As it stands it would require double emulation--emulation from Windows to Linux, and emulation from x86 to ARM.? Re: VARA on PAT Winlink

¿ªÔÆÌåÓýAgree, it isn't going to happen for the Pi anytime soon.? The winlink folks did go back and do some testing etc and now support Mac and Linux but not her ARM architecture I love Vara and wish it were a protocol we could use on pi as part of PAT! 73, Terry k4hnt ---- On Sun, 01 Aug 2021 14:21:10 -0400 Wesley Magyar <wesmagyar@...> wrote ----

Re: VARA on PAT Winlink

slim to none. its coded for windows. someone would have to get the developers assistance or permission to port it since its closed source from what i understand. On Sun, Aug 1, 2021 at 1:59 PM Pieter V51PJ via <v51pj=[email protected]> wrote: good day all |

Seems like you might have a more serious problem¡ So basically BAP will not update. Hrmmm¡ On Sun, Aug 1, 2021 at 10:44 Rich KC3RRW <rwhitcroft2@...> wrote:

ssh pi@<ipaddress>
Enter password for pi user sudo raspi-config Select 3 - Interface Options Select P3 - VNC turn VNC on Exit and save Now will be back on your terminal still connected to your pi through ssh type this command vncserver -randr=2048x1080 (or set a resolution that works for your computer. This resoltion works for my laptop) when that command is done, then check for the ip address. It should give you the ipaddress:1 on the vnc, search for ipaddress:1 login This will stay set until you shutdown/restart your pi |
Re: This is what my screen is doing
It looks like there was a change in the resolution for the monitor.
I would look at the setup of the monitor, which resolution it might be set for, and see if there is an auto resolution function. I would also see what the Pi is outputting for resolution on the HDMI. Full restarts on both to if that also helps. :D? |

You can run BAP as many times as you want and right after the other each?time. No wait times needed. Just run it again. Pi menu - Preferences - Build-A-Pi. On Sun, Aug 1, 2021 at 10:25 AM Marty Hartwell <mhartwe@...> wrote:

Go to the RaspPi menu (same as the Start button in Windows) - Go to Preferences and re-run Build-a-Pi. It will load up and start again. Just check what you want to install or update.
