Audio levels on Build a Pi

Greetings,
I'm running the latest build-a-pi on a Pi 3B+. I was out doing a POTA activation both yesterday and today and I noticed that my RX audio level was in the red (above 70 dB).? I opened the Pulse Audio volume control and adjusted the volume slider on the recording tab downward and didn't have any change in the RX level.? I can't adjust the radio as the volume level as the AF level is set to 1 and the next step is 0...
The radio is a KX--3 and the sound card is a Logitech USB sound card that came with a headset that was purchased eons ago.? I do have a Sabernt USB sound card but It would require me to have to completely rewire my cable bundle to the radio...
Any suggestions on how to fix this? ?
