Hey.? I have been using an SSD with my PI for awhile now.? Even though the foundation is working on native USB boot, I would still suggest you checkout Berryboot.? It offers several advantages (multiple OS, image snapshots-ie backups, etc).? It really is the best of both worlds.? I'll snap a picture of my PI soon and post it here.? It's using mSATA based SSD (much more reliable than a flash drive).? Very quick.
