Hello all. New here as well as Patreon as of yesterday. I would like to present some feedback as well as present a problem that I would appreciate some assistance with, if anyone has figured it out.
First, the feedback. Jason (KM4ACK), I followed both of your build-a-Pi tutorials and I have to say, you¡¯re on to something magical and quite possibly world changing for the Hams out there that are hesitant to make the plunge to the Pi because it¡¯s Linux. With that being said, PAT. Oh my god PAT. I spent several hours digging through your historical video tutorials to find an obscure little ¡°my precious rig¡± line of text to enter into PAT CONFIGURE to get over the rig control hurdle of PAT. I found it in the 3 part series of installing and configuring PAT. So it¡¯s documented. I just isn¡¯t an easy to locate referred necessity for, I¡¯m certain, 3/4 of the people following along. But I found it and it¡¯s documented and the first part of my 2 item conundrum is fixed. Thank you and the suggestion I have is this. Upon release of version 3, I think you should mention that you have a library of individual program installation and configuration tutorials should a certain piece of software not work for your specific setup. If you mentioned something like that, and I missed it, I apologize and move on to my second item.
My problem. Direwolf will NOT do PTT in packet. I have tried the generic /dev/ttyUSB0 line in Direwolf.conf. I¡¯ve tried using the EXACTL name using when configuring FLRig, and I have even gone as far as creating (and subsequently deleting) a symlink for my exact CAT cable. My setup is almost exactly like Jason¡¯s. Yaesu FT-817 or FT-857D (I have both), Raspberry Pi 4b, the audio cable from hamdaptor as well as a Sabrent sound card, and rig control achieved through an FTDI CAT cable for my radios. Everything else works fine. Frequency adjustment, band changes in ARDOP...(js8 loves to crash on me but that¡¯s a mystery for another day) I just can NOT get direwolf to key my radios when using packet. I¡¯m running out of hair folks. Please send help.
again, I love this project and will be playing with version 3 today.
