Here's a set of instructions for converting grid & get-grid (Ruby) to Python3 as a single call. Usable to connect to local gpsd or a networked machine running gpsd as a network server (how I use it). Handy for field ops where you want to have a single Master Pi acting as hotspot making time sync, gpsd (location services) and other functionality available to others.
