I am running 32-bit "Bookworm" on a RPi4b. Wayland is partly to blame, I thought.? I found out how to switch between Wayland and X11. I thought by switching? back to X11 Conky would function.? I was wrong.? I still get a black box.? Another downside of switching is that the WAYVNC server no longer works.? Under X11 you would have to install a different VNC server.? Not a deal breaker.?
?
On a positive note, under X11 both screenshot apps work.? Gnome Screenshot and Flameshot.? It is very easy to switch back and forth between Wayland and X11 using the raspi-config tool. See:

?
for an explanation.
?
Conky is nice, fun thing to have, but is not "mission critical" for computer-based amateur radio operations.? Also, under "Pat Menu" my grid square in the lower left hand corner of the menu does not appear, using Wayland.? Under X11 the grid square does appear. The grid square is however in the config file and is functional.? Again, not a mission critical item.?
?
As soon as I can install another VNCServer I will switch back to X11 until some critical app does not function anymore under X11.? If and when Conky ever gets updated I will try it again.?
?
On a side note, I have another card with Buster (or whatever it was called before "Bookworm." and BAP installed.? Everything works fine.
