Thanks for alerting me to shutter. I checked it out. Unfortunately, the version of shutter which is in the Debian repository isn't the latest, and it still has a bug that causes it to crash when launched on Wayland. At the newest release notes says that v0.99.5 has "fixed crash on Wayland under some circumstances". I suppose that I could build it from source, but it has LOTS of dependencies!
