Sometimes latest and greatest can bite you in the butt.

Have you tried Shutter? shutter-project.org Supposed to work with Wayland.

However, the problem that I'm having is due to the Raspberry PI switch
over to Wayland in the Bookworm version of the OS. Apparently, scrot and
gnome-screenshot only work with X11 widowing system. Wayland breaks
this, so these screen capture programs, which only know about X11, don't
seem to work anymore. Oh well, onward!
