Re: 73 Linuxnot ready for mint 22?

Have you thought about offering an option to skip the OS update at the beginning of a 73Linux run? ?This way you could stay on a "stable OS while adding or updating apps through 73Linux. ?This could be done with one more question at the beginning of the 73Linux script asking if you want to update the OS.
The OS wouldn't update unless you ran a "mintupgrade". However, running apt upgrade would update the kernel if a new version is available. I leave it up to users to put a hold on the kernel if they feel it's needed.
?
I had mint 21 loaded with 73 linux on a macbook air 11inch.
?
I tried an upgrade of linux 22.
?
Long story short, reduce the number of snapshots as the upgrade takes forever.
?
Suffice to say I got mint22 going, 73 linux worked ¡°sort of¡±, and mint bombed out trying to upgrade / fix missing stuff in 73linux
?
I then just installed 22 from scratch runs well new interface looks great. 73linux installs.
?
I have not checked that everything in 73 works yet.?

hamlib, conky, and a few others have issues installing on Mint 22. Working on a fix. I have also noticed that Wi-Fi drops out on two different laptops that I have tested so far. Could be something in my network but haven't experienced it before.

Gerry,
Linux isn't for everyone and I still run a Mac for my day job because certain required software isn't available on Linux. I agree with you that one should seriously consider before upgrading. I seldom if ever upgrade a working system. I am more inclined to build a fresh system rather than upgrading a good one. Backups are a must for EVERY OS.
