Re: Aprs not reporting to aprs.fi

I am not an experienced YAAC user, but I have many years of APRS experience with APRSIS32 and other programs on the PC.? I will say that APRS isn't something that is "turnkey" yet.? Due to its complexity (and therefore versatility), it may never be.

Looking carefully at each of the configuration screens is a good place to start.? Look for places where you have missed an ENABLE check mark.? Start thinking in terms of getting the program to work sending position reports via the Internet system (IS) first.? It is easiest to troubleshoot, and will result in beacons showing up on APRS.FI (use the raw menu at the top of aprs.fi to see the latest packets received).

Once you have that working, try adding in an RF port. That is more difficult since there are more places where things can go wrong.? While troubleshooting the RF port, you may want to disable the IS port temporarily.? APRS.fi only records the first instance of a position report that it sees.? The IS is far faster than the RF environment, so unless you disable the IS packets, the RF packets may be discarded by APRS.fi and never show up.

Once you can get your RF packets to show up on APRS.fi, you can take your show on the road.? If you see your position changing on YAAC map, then your GPS is working.? Assuming you have a reasonable path selected (WIDE1-1,WIDE2-1 should be good) and the Enable station beacon checked, you may be able to hit an IGATE nearby.? The RF box just above the map, and the transmit light on your transceiver should light up at the same time.

Some information that would help us troubleshoot are:
What is the call sign and SSID that you are using?? For example, my YAAC instance is KE6BB-1.
Are you using an external hardware TNC (KPC, Opentracker, TinyTrac, etc.)? or software TNC (i.e. Direwolf)?
What kind of transceiver?

Some screenshots of your configuration screens would be helpful, but I don't know how to do that on a Pi.
