Cleanup Day at Grace Lutheran Church When: January 25th Saturday Time: 9am until 4pm (stay for as long or as little as you are able) Location: 6190 Telephone Rd, Ventura 93003
This Saturday is cleanup day at Grace Lutheran Church. The focus of the day will be to trim the trees in the parking lot, up to 14' off the ground. When I asked if we needed to bring anything, the reply was "If anyone has a pole saw (chainsaw on the end of a pole) that would be good to have."? I am told they have enough chainsaws and ladders, and they plan on getting a tree chipper.? I don't think they expect all of us to be up on ladders.? My plan is to be on the ground, collecting downed branches and logs, stripping them down and dragging them to the chipper.? Plus sweeping and picking up.? Helping out at these cleanup events is how we 'pay' our dues to the Church for allowing us to meet there.
If you plan on coming, please dress in your yard work clothes. Robert KM6RSS gave some good advice to also bring a safety hard hat and goggles if you have them.? I'm sure he will reply to this email with more information.
The Church and the Boy Scouts will be cooking up some food for the folks that are helping and they asked us to bring drinks, chips and beans and desserts. I plan on bringing the drinks. Right now they estimate 30 people attending, which includes 15 youths, many from the Boy Scouts. I will be bringing drinks.
PLEASE NOTE: This is not a club BBQ or picnic.? The food is for those helping on cleanup day.
Lastly, the weather is expected to be fog/drizzle in the morning, and rain in the evening.? So for now they still plan on holding the event.
