We're still good for tonight
-------- Forwarded Message --------
Hey Anthony,
Since the government shutdown was averted, I'll be heading
your way tomorrow! Your meeting is at FUMC Plano on Spring
Creek Parkway, correct? I plan to get there between 7-730pm.

Hey Anthony,
As of now, our talk is still on. However, if there is a
government shutdown this Friday, we will unfortunately
have to reschedule the talk to a later date. Just be aware
of that possibility!

? Hey Sam,
With the uncertainty going on throughout the federal
workforce right now, I wanted to see if we were
still on for next week?

Sounds great Anthony! I was planning on
talking about pretty much everything you said
- radar, satellite, forecasting, and some
other topics for roughly 1 hour. I'll bring my
own Windows laptop and I'll have the
powerpoint on there, but also on a USB drive
just in case. Thanks again for having us!

Sam,
I wanted to message you directly and see what
assistance I can be with
regard to presenting for the Plano Amateur
Radio Club. Many of u are
active with Skywarn, and the PARK repeater is
used for weather reporting
to the NWS.
I didn't have a fixed idea of a topic when I
reached out, but because of
our sporadic interaction with the NWS, and the
dramatic weather
conditions DFW has, from ice storms, to
tornadoes, extreme heat,
possibly even a hurricane, and severe storms
that can form directly on
top of us with little to no warning other than
the NWS can forecast it
based on things nobody else can see there can
be a lot to talk about in
terms of how forecasting is done.
Then also technologies involved, from Doppler
radar, satellite imagery,
to other technologies. Explaining what the NWS
does, and what commercial
entities may also do as well.
We have a decent sized LCD screen that the
audience can see from their
seats, we have an HDMI cable that goes to our
laptop and we've got a
clicker. You are free to bring your own laptop
or whatever, and plug it
in if that's easier, or just a Powerpoint on a
USB stick.
We can set up a table if there's other stuff
to present as well.
Just let me know what you might need.
Our meeting starts at 7p, and we take care of
club business first,
generally about half an hour, then a short
break, and then the program,
so you can come just to present and we can set
you during the break. Or
you can come for the meeting and learn a bit
about what we have going
on., including our plans to expand coverage of
the PARK repeater deeper
and more reliably into Collin county.
