¿ªÔÆÌåÓýI spent a couple hours on 80 and 40 meters this evening. I missed giving a heads up to the fact that many stations will be sending ¡°CUT NUMBERS¡± instead of the normal Morse code Number. An example of a cut number is sending 5NN instead of 599 (¡.. ?- - - - . ? - - - - .) because it saves time.? I heard / worked stations using these ?common ¡°cut numbers¡± this evening including: A ?which is 1 E which ?is believe it or not is 5? T which is 0? Contest logging programs like N1MM will automatically convert cut number letters to the numbers. Just type in what the station sent for their zone. Oh yea another feature of programs like N1MM is that if you have downloaded the updated county file, the program will automatically fill in the zone part of the exchange based on the stations prefix. Do not trust what program fills in. Always copy the exchange being sent! An example of the automatic zone fill feature failure is KH7X which is a call for an Hawaiian station which the program will fill in zone 31. However KH7X is often NOT operating in zone 31!! Hope you get on the air this weekend and enjoy some great propagation! 73 Brian NJ1F Pro On Nov 22, 2024, at 10:52 AM, Brian Szewczyk NJ1F <nj1f@...> wrote:
