As you know ?I did catch a little of the opening around 5 pm local. Scott KA9FOX was real strong. Susan and I decided to take a trip to watch the sunset on Greylock and visit W2SZ.?

This is W2SZ six meter station with Gerry W1VE at the helm.

Hello all,

I don¡¯t know how many of you got a chance to play in the ARRL VHF WSO party this weekend.?

I did spend a few hours in it on Sunday.? You might know that I am a big fan of the FT8 digital mode.?

The 6 meter band has been called the magic band, and my experience this weekend certainly proved that name is appropriate.

I ended up making 82 contacts in 24 grid squares.? Most of the contacts were rather BLAH in the NY and New England area.

BUT¡ right around 21:00 UTC (5 PM local), my FT8m screen lit up and I saw a lot of mid western grids come in. I worked EM89 (Ohio) and EN89 (Il)? in rapid succession until the band died about 5 minutes later.?

I was about ready to quit around 8 PM after my XYL and I watched some TV, but I logged back in just to see what was going on.? I quickly got a new grid, and that hooked me for a few hours.? At 01:24 there was a real quick opening to South America, I worked CE3SOC(Chile) for a new grid (FF466).? The only other station I saw him respond to was W2SZ, a powerhouse contest station over in Massachusetts.? (Boy was I lucky)
