Great detective work Jim, Sorry there was no aurora but I¡¯ll bet you were running some power. Fred ? ? Last night before bed I wanted to check on Aurora conditions on 6 meters CW.? I fired up the rig and started calling CQ CQ AU DE KG2H KG2H.? Now those of you who have worked or heard aurora know what it sounds like, a buzzing signal, not the clear CW tone of normal propagation.? I heard a swish ¨C swish sound in my headset.? I thought ¡°HMM, someone is calling at the same time I was¡±.? Several times later I thought ¡°that sounds like the washing machine when the agitator is working¡±.?? I got up out of my seat and checked the washing machine in the next room.? Nothing there, it wasn¡¯t even turned on.? (My wife sometimes starts a load before bed.? I ignored it and kept calling.? A few minutes later, my wife gets out of bed , comes to the radio room, and tells me the paper shredder was acting weird.? It turns out that the shredder was coming on, both the motor and lights when I keyed the rig.? I guess it was trying to give me a 55A from the living room!! Jim KG2H
