Moderated KD 122 Italy 8
Hi Bernd, we are nearing the end of the work inside the boat. Some photos of the modification of the sofa, the modification was used to fit an excellent refrigerator on the kitchen side. The new stairs have also been completed, the internal hull and door frame lining has been finished, all that remains is the closing of the roof lining of the central cabin. photo link /g/K-designs-Multihull-Sailboats/album?p=Taken%2C%2C%2C20%2C1%2C220%2C0&jump=1&id=269251 ciao

Moderated Bernd Kohler 5
Hello, good morning, I bought the KD860-omega- study plan on July 8, 2022, with these technical data: Technical Data length 5.20 m Beam 2.50 m Draft 0.26 m draft rudder 0.60 m Power, outboard engine 3hp Empty weight 260kg Weight max. 580kg L/B ratio hulls 1:14 sail are both versions o.20 m2 -they did not match the original version. I have seen a similar concern on the forum. Could you confirm, to clear up doubts? Sorry for the inconvenience and thank you very much. Pedro

Moderated KD860 Open 8
A friend recently bought study plans for the above which I was looking at with him. The K Designs website shows this model as being 8.2 x 3.8 which of course is a bit smaller than the original. The study plan my friend downloaded has actually got the incorrect specifications included so I was just wondering: to anyone who is looking at building this "open" model", is there the option to build it at this smaller size, and if it is simply an option, then which model would they choose to build, the original 8.6 x 5.6 model or the smaller one referred to on Bernd's website? Just curious regards Bryan

Moderated Battery costs
You will know my attitude to lithium batteries. At last, the prices are coming down. Anyway, here is a seller of these for a reasonable price. 12v, 260 AH for Euro 699 https://fr.eco-worthy.com/ They also have outlets in the USA, Germany etc. Bernd

Wonderful news, Dominico. Will you fabricate a carbon fibre mast for your ECO 6? I will be watching very carefully.

Moderated Duo 900 Italy 4
Hi Bernd I transported the Duo 900 to the same shed where the KD122 is, so as to alternate work on both boats. From my home (Puglia) in southern Calabria road transport of the Duo 900 everything is ok. Now as in the mythology of ancient Rome, the great Jupiter and the small Mercury. :-))

Moderated ECO 520 anyone building? 38
Hi everyone, after reading here now and then, I bought the 520 plans and found pro-builder Tomas from jonascatamaran.cz. Did anyone built, is building or planning to build an ECO520?

Moderated Manta - Galacticat (Formerly Lucia) sails again :) 5
Hello everyone, I recognize this forum is for those building Mr. Kohler's multihulls and I'd like to preface this post by acknowledging how much respect I have for all of you who are building these! Having just gone through a 16 month refit of Lucia (weekends only and not over the winter) I can only imagine how much time, effort, and resources it must take to start such a project from only plans and dreams. I hope it brings comfort to Mr. Kohler and Lucia's previous owners (I believe at least 1 may be on this forum) to know that once again this wonderful Manta is on the water :) I credit Nova Scotia fishing captain Jody for saving Lucia as she was severely damaged in Hurricane Fiona a few years ago. She broke loose from her lines and slammed into a tug boat he was working on which made a couple of holes on the exterior of the starboard hull along with some other issues. The former owner had regrettably passed away and she had been neglected before the hurricane. Jody was able to track down the caretaker and purchased the boat, patched it up and brought it to Shelburne, Nova Scotia sometime in 2020. We purchased it from him in April 2022 and we were able to finally launch it Aug 2023 after a lot of work refitting the large majority of it's systems and a lot of hull work above the waterline. The build quality of this vessel was incredible and I believe it was built in the UK. The surveyor was amazed that a wood/epoxy boat from 1988 had hulls, below the water line, in such pristine condition which is what gave us confidence to buy the boat in the condition it was in. This will be an ongoing project for us and our family are greatly looking forward to new adventures. We sailed it home to Saint John, New Brunswick a week a half ago. It was an amazing journey and we were delighted to see how well it handled everything the coast of Nova Scotia and the Bay of Fundy could throw at it. From 35-40 knot gusts, to 9-11ft waves, the highest tides in the world which bring with it very strong currents and an always changing sea state. We did not push it hard as as this was in essence a shakedown sail, but we easily managed to hit 12kts downwind, against 2kts of current with a second reef in the main. It handled everything expertly and we are very grateful to Mr. Kohler and the builders for such a seaworthy vessel. You will notice in the pictures that it is heavy in the stern. We went with 2 x 20hp outboards for the next few years. As hybrid diesel and battery technology improves we will return to inboards in 3-5 yrs. The brackets we built are a couple of inches too short so there is weight in the stern to compensate and ensure there was no cavitation from the outboards. Mr. Kohler, we haven't installed the vortex panels based on the plans you sent me this spring (that's a project for next year) but having heard how multi hulls are terrible at pointing upwind (and my background racing monohulls including our J24 and crewing on many different 30ft boats) I was pleasantly surprised how well it did upwind considering everything it has been through! We still have much work to do but we are incredibly happy with where things are currently :) for all of you building these vessels... Persevere! It will be worth it in the end! I'd also like to take a moment to thank the gentlemen in a couple of the pictures, Paulo, from Brazil who has sailed oceans and catamarans and got our boat and our family home safe :) Thanks Paulo!!!

Moderated Duo 900 Italy 7
Hello Bernd, unfortunately, I was reluctant to launch the boat this summer not because of me but because of the sailmaker who got the size of the sewing rope wrong. He sewed me the 10mm rope and not the 7mm rope, the nice thing I had sent the photo (in May) of the internal measurements of the 10.5mm duct and he was wrong .... :-)) I have an anger that you have no idea after so much work not being able to enjoy the boat....

Moderated Eco75 part built For Sale 4
Hi All, Due to ill health, I have had to stop building my ECO75. One hull is largely built and Coppercoated, with the second hull having side skins, but not the bottom skins fitted. It is standard except the transoms have been extended by circa 300mm since I intended to fit twin outboards. There are also 2 new 60 litre plastic fuel tanks. No work has been started on the bridgedeck. There are lots of pictures on the forum. I have enough 2.4 x 1.2m sheets of marine ply (Robbins Elite) to finish the boat and also much of the Douglas Fir needed. I am located in Hampshire UK. If anybody has any (serious) interest please get in touch and I can send you further details. I am only looking for a reasonable price for the remaining plywood sheets and Douglas Fir, the hulls and plans are a give away. Buyer will have to collect. Regards Richard Flegg

Power ECO 85 Electric 93
Hi Pepijn, Things go slow at the moment as it's hard to keep the temperature in my workshop above the 15 deg. The Left hull is glassed and 2 times coated, and needs another coat to get the surface smooth. The right hull is nearly raedy to except the angled keel boards. As I see it now, the hull will be turning ready at the end of this year. Cheers

Hi Bernd I develop internal work but also on the mast. The interior is missing only the central cabin to put the panels, the two hulls are ready for painting. I raised the mast to take all the measurements of the stainless steel cables to stiffen and also the measurements of the sails. Moderated Hunting for the perfect little winter boat 8
Apologies for the long post in advance. Hi guys, it's been a while since I was last here. At the time I was looking to build a small live-aboard. That plan fell through because I found a super cheap westerly pageant that fit the bill perfectly (apart from it not being a sexy speedy catamaran haha). In the winter that boat is going on the hard. Now I'm searching for the perfect little winter boat (I live in the Netherlands it freezes for a week maximum per year here). I've made a list of attributes that are important to me. 1. small (quick and cost effective to build with a little help from friends and family. I've noticed that I like the closeness to the water and the way small boats move)) 2. sheltered sailing position (wind chill has been an issue last winter. I'd love to be more "inside") 3. FAST (uuuuhhhh can't think of an objective reason for this but I have always dreamed of a speedy little boat... mind you compared to my westerly I'm sure anything would feel quick haha) I'd seen that there are two designs that look great in regard to point one and three! With little modifications two might also be satisfied. I would love to hear your thoughts and suggestions. Also, no offence is meant. I realise allot of thought and work goes into creating those gorgeous designs, and I don't mean to spoil them. Rather adapt them to my winter needs. That said, I'm looking at the tiny tri. It looks almost perfect. I'm wondering if it's possible to sit deeper in the cockpit... almost F1 style. I have a recumbent bike that uses the same geometry and it's super comfy (one can even sleep nicely in this position). Then I'm thinking fashion a tiny little windscreen and a little snap on cover. Alternatively, I've been looking at the cataproa. It looks like a lot more boat to build but still doable. I'm wondering if there are any shelter ideas anyone has for that one... the cabin shelters one side nicely... I'm thinking a little windbreak that keeps within the side view silhouette on the other side perhaps? If you're still with me, thanks and I'd love to hear your ideas and feedback. Regards, Zachary

Moderated Added album Working towards the launch date - the ECO 6 in Canada 3 #photo-notice
Rod McLaren <nkosuohene@...> added the album Working towards the launch date - the ECO 6 in Canada : I did miss launching the ECO 6 by my 75th birthday but I am still hopeful to be in the water in time to join the annual sailing/camping event I have organized for 11 years, the Elbow Run, departing July 16. As any of you who have built boats know, its all the "little" things that take a lot of time to complete. Here is a glimpse into where the boat is today.
