Added album Working towards the launch date - the ECO 6 in Canada

Rod McLaren <nkosuohene@...> added the album Working towards the launch date - the ECO 6 in Canada : I did miss launching the ECO 6 by my 75th birthday but I am still hopeful to be in the water in time to join the annual sailing/camping event I have organized for 11 years, the Elbow Run, departing July 16. As any of you who have built boats know, its all the "little" things that take a lot of time to complete. Here is a glimpse into where the boat is today. |

Re: Hunting for the perfect little winter boat
Pepijn answered your question already. By the way. The pictures and the videos for the CATAPROA were all made at the place of Pepijn.
Sailing was done on the Ijsselmeer. The others were made on the Med.
The boat is a good winter boat. The boat can be sailed from the inside if you want. With some provision, you can handle the lateen and the
rudders from inside the cabin. Some insulation would make life inside the boat drier in the Wintertime. Yes, you can sit in the boat very comfortably. The sleeping area is 2m x 1,22m. A la Dick Newick even good for two in love.?
Construction time. I built this prototype in 6 weeks, with a break for a party of one week.
On this forum is another keen CATAPROA sailor; perhaps he can chip in to tell his story. By the way, and to my own surprise, coming about (tacking) is as
easy and fast as on a dingy. And yes, she is fast too.?
If you like the idea, I can make you an offer. Drop me a line (bernd@...)
?
Cheers
?
Bernd? Photo, another Cataproa built in Germany. I like this boat |

Hunting for the perfect little winter boat
Apologies for the long post in advance.
Hi guys, it's been a while since I was last here. At the time I was looking to build a small live-aboard. That plan fell through because I found a super cheap westerly pageant that fit the bill perfectly (apart from it not being a sexy speedy catamaran haha). In the winter that boat is going on the hard. Now I'm searching for the perfect little winter boat (I live in the Netherlands it freezes for a week maximum per year here). I've made a list of attributes that are important to me. 1. small (quick and cost effective to build with a little help from friends and family. I've noticed that I like the closeness to the water and the way small boats move)) 2. sheltered sailing position (wind chill has been an issue last winter. I'd love to be more "inside") 3. FAST (uuuuhhhh can't think of an objective reason for this but I have always dreamed of a speedy little boat... mind you compared to my westerly I'm sure anything would feel quick haha) I'd seen that there are two designs that look great in regard to point one and three! With little modifications two might also be satisfied. I would love to hear your thoughts and suggestions. Also, no offence is meant. I realise allot of thought and work goes into creating those gorgeous designs, and I don't mean to spoil them. Rather adapt them to my winter needs. That said, I'm looking at the tiny tri. It looks almost perfect. I'm wondering if it's possible to sit deeper in the cockpit... almost F1 style. I have a recumbent bike that uses the same geometry and it's super comfy (one can even sleep nicely in this position). Then I'm thinking fashion a tiny little windscreen and a little snap on cover. Alternatively, I've been looking at the cataproa. It looks like a lot more boat to build but still doable. I'm wondering if there are any shelter ideas anyone has for that one... the cabin shelters one side nicely... I'm thinking a little windbreak that keeps within the side view silhouette on the other side perhaps? If you're still with me, thanks and I'd love to hear your ideas and feedback. Regards, Zachary |

Re: KD860 open
You can use Vinilester on the inside. But in contrast to Epoxy it will not add to the strength of
the hulls.? |

Thank you for answering so quickly. Here the epoxy is very expensive. Too expensive. Use the epoxy only on the external faces of hulls, beams, etc. But not inside the interior of the living work. Here in Argentina the Bucket 20kg Epoxy Resin Bisphenol-a Vinilester is sold - Chemia S.a. This is more accessible to buy. El dom, 4 jun 2023 a las 11:39, Bernd Kohler (<bernd@...>) escribi¨®:

Re: KD860 Center Dagger Board
No aircraft with winglets could then fly through a turbulence.?
Because the a-vortex panels do the same thing, only through a 830 times more tense element.? Bernd |

Re: KD860 Center Dagger Board
Yes, I have the plans. I will be sailing mostly in the Gulf of Mexico and the Caribbean. I was not sure if the anti vortex panels would word in the choppy sea conditions.?

Domenico
You need the diamond shrouds. Otherwise, you get buckling of the masts. Bernd |

Re: KD860 Center Dagger Board
Hi Patrick
You have a plan of the KD 860? I have the center board drawing. But you do not need it. Ask owners of the KD 860. The anti vortex panels work perfect.? Bernd |

Re: kd 122 italy
Hi Hans on the top top must have some flexibility At 8.70 MT above there will be (either side) two dynema cables ahead and behind at 2.80 MT from the base of the mast. This is to avoid creating diamond shapes since it does not interfere with the self-tacking jib... ?

KD860 Center Dagger Board
Hello,
In the study plans it shows a center dagger board option. The full plans do not show it. Are there plans available for its construction? Finally get to begin building this summer. Thank you. |

Re: Eco75 part built For Sale
Hi Richard,
Very sad to hear that you have to stop your project because of your health, I whish you al the best! Kind regards, Jack -----Oorspronkelijk bericht----- Van: [email protected] <[email protected]> Namens R Flegg Verzonden: zondag 28 mei 2023 22:59 Aan: [email protected] Onderwerp: [K-Designs-Multihull-Sailboats] Eco75 part built For Sale Hi All, Due to ill health, I have had to stop building my ECO75. One hull is largely built and Coppercoated, with the second hull having side skins, but not the bottom skins fitted. It is standard except the transoms have been extended by circa 300mm since I intended to fit twin outboards. There are also 2 new 60 litre plastic fuel tanks. No work has been started on the bridgedeck. There are lots of pictures on the forum. I have enough 2.4 x 1.2m sheets of marine ply (Robbins Elite) to finish the boat and also much of the Douglas Fir needed. I am located in Hampshire UK. If anybody has any (serious) interest please get in touch and I can send you further details. I am only looking for a reasonable price for the remaining plywood sheets and Douglas Fir, the hulls and plans are a give away. Buyer will have to collect. Regards Richard Flegg |

Very impressive and professional!? Will there be an "endcap" on the top against twisting? Or is it supposed to have flex? Greetings, Hans
