Re: Eco 6 beam reduction
Thanks Max,
I tried to find?DWGFastView at the Mac App store but it returned no results. ?I have searched the web for Mac CAD viewing software and came up empty. ?It may be because I have an older MacBookPro and my OS is not up to date but it runs slow enough already and updates never make computers faster :) So it still looks like PDF will be the best solution for me. Re: Eco 6 beam reduction
Hi Max and David
Thank you for your solution to show DXF(DWG) files on the Mac. To the question of inaccuracy of files translated to PDF. You have the choice by translation of the accuracy. The more accurate (pixel precise) the drawing has to be the more bites you neet. Many of my drawings are to scale 1 : 1. For a boat of 6m is this a lot of pixels. So you reduce to 1 : 10 and 80% and the drawing when re-scaled to 1 : 1 can have some inaccuraty. I am not against PDF files in general, the opposit, but sure for drawings.? Bernd |
Re: Eco 6 beam reduction
Other than the?small?early outright racing classes there are few Australian tralersailer catamaran cruising designs for home builders. Some of the Alan Turner Jarcats pushed hard have gone over when racing. Otherwise not really much of a problem at all?to a reasonably experienced?skipper/crew. But they are only the?legal?road width.?I believe the Waller cats has?presented even less of a problem.

Re: Eco 65 houseboat "Galadriel"
¿ªÔÆÌåÓýHi Holger,Beautiful craftsmanship. Will be good for the family that you don¡¯t use the loud tools like routers and electric planes.? A tip on cleaning your tools: use cleaning vinegar. As long as epoxy is not cured it falls apart with vinegar. So much better for your health than aceton.? Give it a try, you will like it. For the dust collector I use this device between the nozzle and the vacuum, and I never changed a dust bag since. The vacuum keeps full power all the way: Keep up the good work! cheers, Pepijn

Re: Eco 6 beam reduction
Bernd,
I have a Mac computer so I cannot install the free software. ?But regardless the printing shop that will plot the files only works with PDF files, so ben if I could open DXF I would still have to convert to PDF. Do the translation mistakes affect scale or dimensions of patterns? Sorry for the inconvenience. Re: Eco 6 beam reduction
Hi Brendt,
I wrote about CNC cutting of the panels for the Eco 6 but my name is not Patrick so I don't know if you were replying to me or not. In any event, ?I cannot read the files, nor can I print them, unless they are in PDF format. Could you let me know if this is possible? David |
Re: Eco 6 plans
Hi Luiz
Thank you for your througts. I am also wondering. The KD 650 is easy to build, needs no boards, is fast, easy to set up. I know, many intersted persons ask there "expert" friends and get then the advice not to buid the boat because it is an asymmetrical hull design. And the do not go through the wind. Wrong, as you know Luiz and the other owners from my a-symmetrical catamarans to. Only drawback is, that the are not great load carriers. But, when you would like a real fast sailing boat which is relative easy to trailer, consiter one of them. Bernd? |
Re: Eco 65 houseboat "Galadriel"
Hello Holger
Thank you for your nice introduction..?t is funny to see the 3 different boats from the same drawing sets and all under construction in Germany. Good start so to see. There is always a way to go when you have your mind set. Good that you will have a good working space at your club. So please keep us posted. Ich habe mich k?stlich ¨¹ber Deine "Mauz" Beschreibung am¨¹siert.? Thanks again Bernd? |
Re: Eco 65 houseboat "Galadriel"
No Sir, lol
I've been luckily married for 23 years and, as long as there's always time left for wife and family and building happens just in that room there's no reason to worry about that... The parts I'm building right now are not larger than 2' by 2' and normally the door of that room is closed. We just placed the bulkheads along the floor to show the dimensions. The large parts will not be built inside. Seems that I found the right woman to live with ;-) |
Re: Eco 6 beam reduction
Hi David
Just a quick note here. Remember you can use butt joints to connect the plywood if you don¡¯t want to scarf the plywood. And you can do the gluing on the boat itself, panel by panel. It is a matter of routing out some notches in the stringers for the butt strap (only as deep and wide as the butt strap), gluing the butt strap in the notch, and then gluing your ply panel on (which you have already cut to the right shape). Also, it will be interesting to see if the cost of cnc cutting the bulkheads is worth it, as most of Bernd¡¯s designs have bulkheads with straight lines. You plot the points on the ply panel, then draw straight lines to connect the dots. Then I think it is easy to clamp on a straight edge as a guide and cut them with a circular saw with lots of teeth. The hard work is plotting the points. But you have to do that with a cnc cut also. Then you also have to cut out the stringer notches, but once again the hardest part is making sure you know where they go.? Best of luck to you on the build! I started out thinking trailerable monohull, then got a case of the ¡°might as well¡±s and the idea grew and grew and now we are building a 12m cat. So be careful :) Cheers Patrick |
