We have been painting the Voyager. Now just the side decks remain to be top-coated including non-skid sprinkled and coated over.?
I have not finished much of the inside yet except for the steps going down to each hull, but we have insulated completely the decks and the hulls sides.?
And we have a mast waiting for us which is a 6063 aluminum round tube of 10 inch diameter (not tapered) and 0.21 inch wall thickness. It weighs 362 lbs. Heavier than a 6061 thin wall mast, but now extra stiff, especially side to side in comparison to a normal mast section.?
No sail track for the rolling main set on a stay behind the mast. No extrusion on the furler. The entire stay will spin with the continuous line furling drive unit. The roller main should make the boat slower in light air than it would have been with a fat head main, but also be less sail area to manage. In theory it will also be possible to reef the sail traditionally if we ever need to.?
The main sail will be a very shallow cut sail, following Bernd¡¯s recommendation. (Depth only 4% of the chorde) And it will only be about 32 m^2. So we might get a big gennaker to add some sail area.?
I took some pictures but the lighting was bad so they are very grainy. Seeing the boat turn white was a thrill. And a lot of work.?
Cheers
