Re: Weight of the ECO5.5

Hi Phil

Nice video from your trip. And interesting plans for next year.

I give the weight only for the boat. I do not know what people use as hardware or engines.

The 620 kg are measured on the construction waterline. Every extra 50 kg gives a 1 cm extra draft.
So when you put 200 kg more in the boat, the draft will only increase by 4 cm which is of no importance.
The lighter the boat, the better of course.?
By the way. I like your idea with an Aluminium roof. Less weight on the top means less rolling of the boat. You were complaining about this with the waves on one of the videos. This would be less. (Lower metacentric).?
Please keep me informed about your progress

Kind regards

Bernd

Hi Bernd, in your plans for the ECO5.5 power cat you have the weights of :

Weight 275 kg (606 pounds)
Is this without the hardware such as steering wheel and cable, motors (two 5hp) and gas tank?

Weight max. CWL 620 kg (1366.87 pounds)
I am assuming this is the very maximum that would be allowed for proper cruising.

I will be having my cat weighed next week to establish a base of where I am in weight as I want to remove 300 lbs this winter.

Thanks

Phil
