Looking For a Book-Leon White-Styles For The Studio

Hello all,
Just joined today.
I've been a guitarist for 35 years. Due to an auto accident, I lost the use of my left arm for 10 years.
I regained the use of it last year and I'm starting to learn to play again. I play mostly Blues but played pretty much everything in my day.

I'm looking for a book I lost in a flood.

Anyone know where I can find "Styles For The Studio" by Leon White?
Any help would be grately appreciated.

I used it in the 70s to learn and practice scale patterns.

Thank you all, Wayne

I believe it is out of print. Leon's book was published originally by Dale Zdenek back in 1976. From what I gather the rights to Dale Zdeneck publications were sold to Alfred Publications. Dale Zdeneck, published a lot a good guitar books, including Ted Greene's. I remember taking "Styles For The Studio" when I went on tour in Greece back in 1979!. Leon occasionally posts on YJGG:

Hi Wayne,
Leon here. One of the other members tipped me to your inquiry. Last time I checked Alfred had the book available in its same version. If they don't (please call and ask), let me know.

Amazon.com, alibris.com, and bookfinder.com all list copies for sale. The cheapest I found was on bookfinder for $42. Other prices were close to $100.

I have "Sight To Sound", and possibly "Styles..." as well, I'll have to look. You may want to check college/university libraries for copies as well, maybe you can check one out and have a look. Here in L.A., the Brand Library is a treasure trove of stuff; used bookstores may also be able to hook you up. I also corresponded w/ Leon a while back, so I'll try to track down his email address, maybe he can set you up with a copy. Good luck! Just wondering, why are you looking for it???

Cheers,
JV

Thanks Juan, I saw the one at Amazon UK. It's a bit steep for me.

I'm starting to play again after a long gap due to an injury. In 2006 we lost almost everything in a flood. This was a book I used years ago to help me learn scales, patterns and was a great practicing tool. Most new books I see are over my head or have TAB. I can't do TAB. I like the grids.

Thanks for your help Juan,
Wayne,
Also, Leon is on the lookout for one too.

I thought he had already responded to you on this list when you first brought it up...

Bobby

Hi Bobby,
Yes I have talked to Leon. He's on the lookout for one too. I contacted all the publishers and a lot of sellers and no luck so far. Thanks to all that are taking the time to look. I appreciate it.
Wayne,

Used @ $3.00, new from $11.28:

or, there's:

the supplement book @$14.95:

Amazon from $13.95

It doesn't seem too hard to find at a reasonable price at all. Here's the Google URL which took me to a b'zillion entries:

Bobby

Oh, I get it.

He found it at $40 - $100 already, but said the price was too high.

I have the Vol 1 of the book, I'm not sure if volume 2 exists.
It deals primarily with diatonic scales.
How may I make a copy?

Alfred owns the Publishing for this book. Alfred said it can only be copied with the author's permission. You'd have to contact Leon. He's in the group here.
Wayne,

So Leon, if you are listening, do you mind if this is copied and
distributed here, or at least to select people on this list?
