pick about 2 inches from the flat pick position (5 mm), and allow
full freedom of fingerpicking. It would then be easily retrieved to
go back to flat picking.

I'm not sure if there would be much demand for a device like this.
Maybe there's already something similar on the market.

Any comments on this would be greatly appreciated.
I saw Joe Pass live many times and he used to put the pick in his mouth when
he switched.
