Re: Visualizing Fingerings

Hello Dave,

I applaude your efforts and the efforts of all the other contributors on this forum!

My "Dave Woods" folder contains something approaching a gigabyte of data, all of which I copied from your website (with the exception of your posts in this forum.) Most of your work is devoted to explaining and using scales, modes, arpeggios, chords, and chord progressions to make music through the use of the five shapes which you so throughly and wonderfully illustrate with your software. (Maybe you could say a few words about how you construct all of your work.) You also present analyses of several tunes including backing tracks, chord progressions, and arpeggios. In a number of ways you talk the basic concepts and physics of music. Through your posts in this forum, you have also shared some of your philosophy of life.

There is some duplication in my files because at one point I had to recopy some stuff from your site. Other duplication occurred because your website changed over time and I had some difficulty telling when you changed a file or added new ones. I never hesitate to copy something for fear of missing it.

I now check your site frequently so I don't miss anything. Sometime in the past, I started making screen shots of your website to help me keep up with all your additions. If I missed something that you put up in the very beginning and then removed before I downloaded, I won't have it. Hopefully, I didn't miss much.

Although I believe I learn better with visual and aural aids, I would welcome more verbal explanations to help me understand what you are presenting. But I can't tell you how much I appreciate what you have posted to date.

I would be remiss if I failed to mention in some way all of the members in this forum who contribute day in and day out. Thanks to all who are so knowledgeable and willing to share. I have no doubt there is enough material, (almost 20,000 topics of discussion) in this forum to constitute (at least)a four year college curriculum in music!

Now, if I could manage to take a few lessons with you, Dave, get organized, devote a little more time to studying your material, and . . . .

The best to you Dave!
