My paper which involves reading a Victorian novel as a deconstruction of the long-eighteenth-century coming-out novel has just been published in a print journal. Although references to the secondary literature about Collins and No Name are mentioned as context, all the direct scholarly support for the argument (in the form of quotations from the secondary literature) comes from books and papers which are not merely about other authors but about other authors who were writing in a different literary period. I should be interested to know from other listmembers who have published in peer-reviewed journals how common this is among articles which involve a close reading of a single work.
