Generators rarely give trouble. Maybe the voltage regulator is bad. It works harder than the generator ever would.

I'm not getting my battery charged on the tractor and it appears the generator is on the fritz. One large wire comes out of the generator comprising 2 smaller wires. How would I approach removing this large wire so I can remove the generator and get it evaluated? How is that large wire disconnected from the generator?
