uButx and JackAl stuff for sale
IT HAS BEEN SOLD I've just lost interest. All my uBitx stuff is for sale. Just had a contact from Wisconsin to California on 20m yesterday. I have not worked on my JackAl since the snow went away and now have lost interest. It comes blue case already cut out and switches and controls mounted. You get two un-used two 7" touch screens and an unbuilt display protection board, uBitx v4 board and original un-used display and bag of parts. You get the Teensy 3.6 and sound board. The JackAl board is ready for the Audio Amp and voltage regulators. You get 4 amps, 4 5v regulators and 13 3.3v regulators from 2 different companies and 2 coax cables. I do not want to split it up but just want it all gone at once. I'll put it all in a box and take it to a shipper for finishing packaging and ship it to the lower 48 states only. $275 includes shipping. Please contact me off list for questions or purchase and I will post if it is sold. I'll only accept PayPal. -- *Lee - N9LO* *"I Void Warranties"*

Display Buffer IC
Hello, Just a quick question. I was wondering if the Display Buffer IC 74HC125 is absolutely necessary to be connected between the Teensy and the Display? are there any adverse conditions if this is missed out? Kind regads Ravi/M0RVI -- I'm here to add more value to the world than I'm using up.

RA8875 Library
3
Hi, I'm having trouble getting the code to compile for V096 code from this sites zip file and using arduino 1.8.5. Error messages seem to be centric to the RA8875 library. Other messages on this reflector indicate that the RA8875 library needs to be downloaded from hamradiodesigns.com. I'm having trouble getting anything from that website. Is there another location that I might go to get it? the Sumotoy RA8875 library on GitHub doesn't seem to be happy either. Kind Regards, Robert NQ0T

I got it to work on another computer. I think all my posts are held at the moderator. Feel free to let all or none through, but would appreciate the ability to post on future topics. Not getting in has been good for me. Read through the old postings and learned a lot more. 73 de Robert, NQ0T

Warning on 3V Rail !
4
Warning on the 3V supply line!! Do not allow anything to cause a short to 3V supply line. Watch that heatsink is insulated from the regulator tab. (not my issue). Also be sure the 3.3V regulator is seated fully into board when soldered otherwise the thinner portion of the regulator can easily bend and break if moved too much during handling such as inserting into a case. If you short the 3V line IT WILL DESTROY YOUR DISPLAY - IMMEDIATELY!! Be very cautious. This project has a ton of interconnections that can be confusing so go slow and careful especially during final assembly into a case. Compiling
I found the files on this site after doing some more reading, which cleared up those errors. Now, down to some errors pointing at the audio library. Is there a zip of the audio library somewhere? The one from Github doesn't seem to work for me. Using a W7 machine. Kind Regards, Robert, NQ0T

JackAl with 7" display
2
Good Morning, When I ordered my display from Display.com I guess I ordered 7" by mistake, preferred 5". Having a difficult time figuring out connections from JackAl to display. It looks to me from reading the data sheet that connections are made to JP3? If yes, which pin is for the touchscreen? I would greatly appreciate any input anyone might have. I do not want to risk blowing the display or the JackAl PCB. Thanks for your input, Vince

7" Screen for JackAl PCB
Good morning, Does anyone have a picture of the connections on the back of the 7" display for JackAl PCB? Thanks, Vince N1VIN

Quick question
2
On JackAl PCB can one use the new Teensy 4.0 in place of the Teensy 3.6. I only ask because Teensy 4.0 seems to be less expensive. Thanks, Vince

Places to get the JackAl board?
4
Hello! Are there any other places to acquire the JackAl board than QRPGuys? I¡¯ve placed an order for 2 boards with QRPGuys on 7/2, received a tracking number on 7/12, but it's still stuck "Pre-Shipment USPS is waiting for the package." as of 7/18. Their shopping cart is setup kind of odd on the jackal item - it didn't let me change the Quantity - so I placed separate orders (I wanted 2 boards); and emailed them to let them know it wasn't a mistake - I do want 2 boards, but I haven't heard a peep. Very strange - all the parts from China got to me quicker. I'm just waiting on the board itself. After 2 weeks I'm starting to worry a bit. 73s James // K0FE

BOM vs Schematics
2
I was reading through the BOM (page 25 ) and the schematic page 31 (jackal assemblymanual (ver16)-section 2 .docx), the component numbers on the BOM do not match, is there an updated version that is available? The reason I ask is that the values and labels are not very clear in the document. Many thanks, Ravi -- I'm here to add more value to the world than I'm using up.

JackAl Dilemma - I think I fried it
5
Good afternoon, I think I may have fried my JackAl PCB. -Connected only programmed Teensy 3.6, 5" touchscreen and 12 volt DC supply -JackAl screen came up and all looked good -Then after about 60s the screen went blank and LED on Teensy came on and stayed on -Power cycling made no difference -Reprogrammed Teensy 3.6 with BLINK program and LED blinks as expected so I suspect Teensy is OK. Reprogrammed with JackAl -I have no idea how to troubleshoot the display -I went over everything and eventually found a HUGE MISTAKE on my part. Instead of 7805 I had installed 7812 for U2. -I remvoed U2 and installed correct 7805 but I think at this point the damage was already done for symptoms did not change Short of buying another JackAl PCB does anyone have any suggestions or can anyone repair the JackAl PCB? Much thanks, Vince N1VIN

Hamradiodesigns.com looks hacked again!
8
I don't know who you or Al ticked off Jack, but I just checked your website and it appears it's been hacked again. Firefox is now blocking it as a deceptive site again. I was looking for the updated wiring pictures a few minutes ago when I discovered it. I did a browser refresh in case it had been cached but it still shows malware. Posting this in case you hadn't noticed it. Jim - W0EB

JackAl Basketcase FS
4
Officially throwing in the towel on this one. Gone through several expensive 5 inch displays and even had one of the designers add a protection board to yet another new display. The display (or the protection board) failed in a puff of smoke within minutes of trying out the repaired display. The uBitx never stopped receiving just the display failed. However, I refuse to spend another dime or hour on this project. I've built many radios at least as complicated such as 2 all-SMD mcHF radios without such headaches. I'm not blaming anyone but just moving on. So selling it as a case with mostly working parts just to salvage some value from this venture. What is included is a fully built, tested and working JackAL board, and working and tested V3 uBitx board, 2 encoders, push button, 3 stereo jacks, volume pot with on/off switch and a possibly repairable 5 inch display with protection board that failed at it's task, and the steel case I mounted it all in. I'm asking $145 which includes shipping (US only). This is about the price of a uBitx board by itself. Please respond off the list direct to my email. I will not be checking back here. Email is pmeier @ me . com

Jackal Audio Wiring Harness
7
Good afternoon, Reading through old messages I know everyone involved is busy and being pulled in several directions. Is there someone who has successfully installed the Jackal PCB who would email me a couple of pics of their audio wiring harness. Particularily the 2X3 IDC connector end and the volume pot end. I think I could make a wild guess but with the time and money I have invested to this point I would hate to blow something up. Thanks, 73 Vince N1VIN
