Support for Capacitive Touch Screen?

Just wondering if that was ever an idea.

Capacitive usually works much better than Resitive for touch screens, probably worth the extra $3.

Of course if there are no libraries to support it that would be an issue.

Re: JackAl Parts Kit

Please add N2NOL to your list.? Do you have a BOM and a ballpark $$ ?

Newbie info

I just received my board.? Now I am looking for info on the parts needed/source and assembly directions.? I found lots of web info but I am not confidant in it as it is sketchy and some is old.? Is there a one stop web place to go for the latest up-to-date information.

Also, Jack, have you attended the Findlay hamfest? I am from near there and like to attend it and some local fairs.

Re: JackAl Parts Kit

I am up to 11 in the build group so far, so it is a go. I will be sending a group email out to confirm I got everyone that wants in. If anyone else wants in you probably have until Monday as that is most likely when I will do the ordering. Also, as this is a new project and I am seeing some discrepancies in information I would ask anyone with important information or insight- errata, best pricing source, etc. to forward that to me to consolidate. Multiple eyes should help keep us on the straight and narrow.

Thanks,

You could try searching your favorite supplier for an L7805CV.

The ST Miicro replacement for a common 3 terminal linear regulator is : ?L78S05CV is pin for pin, and 2 Amps. .71 cents for single quantities. (mouser, digikey, etc). Internet cheaper.

Neither is okay. The 7805 you listed for 1A is right at the margin. It needs to be above 1.25A. The 7905 is a regulator for negative voltages, so that won't work at all.

Re: Acceptable parts

It really doesn't matter, provided that:

1) the current output is 1.25A or more
2) the pinout match the circuit board. For example, if you look at the board, you'll see the 7805? regulator has the GND as the center pin, whereas the 3.3V regulator has pin 1 and the GND. Some 12V and 5V regulators have different IN, OUT, and GND pin connections. Bad things happen if you put the wrong pin placements in the board, even if the amperage and voltage are correct.

I sent the edited file to Al, but he's up to his ass in alligators right now, as are we both, getting the software finished up. Everyone needs to know the regulator should be a 7805.

Re: JackAl Parts Kit

I bought 50 of the transformers for my builder's group for around $21, including shipping. In 100 unit quantities, the cost was less than $0.35 each. In single-lot quantities, they are almost always over $2 each. Bulk buy and sell for $1 each and the buyer is still getting a half-price deal!

Glad to see this, Mark, and it makes sense. Al and I investigated quantity discounts on both the display and the Teensy/audio boards, but (as I recall), there was only a 3% discount on the display and not much more on the PJRC products. It simply wasn't worth the effort.

However, when our builder's group ordered the JackAl board, I ordered enough parts to get the 25-count discount on a number of the parts and that does make a difference. Also, it never hurts to ask any vendor, big or small, for a quantity discount. Vendors like Digikey, Mouser, Arrow, etc. usually show their discounts. Tayda Electronics does and we use them a lot because they have a distribution center in CO so common parts arrive fairly quickly. eBay vendors will also entertain discounts, just ask.

I wish you well in this effort!
