Re: USB Connected- NoAudio-Solved
Hi Rick: Thanks for taking the time to tell us about this. I am curious: If you ran the JackAl with the USB cable not attached, did you still have the same problem with the filters? Jack, W8TEE

Jack,
The problem turned out to be in the IDE and Windows
10.? I had originally set the IDE to communicate with the Teensy using Raw
HID as that was what Win10 first identified it as and in the IDE selected Raw
Hid.?That worked OK for programming with the IDE.? Somewhere along the
line in the last several months Windows 10 updates decided to emulate a serial
port under the Port selection for the Teensy and dropped Raw Hid (COM4 sometimes
COM6 depending on plug-in position in the computer.).? I also read on
someone's message to you?where they were selecting "All of the Above" for
USB type and not?hearing
anything?negative?I?too?selected?that?option which?may still be?OK. The Teensy programmed
fine with these settings except for the audio?interference leaving hooked
up after programming.? Last night remembering the "Raw Hid" setting in the
IDE I reset it and selected "Raw Hid" for USB type and?deselected
"All?of the Above". When I plugged the USB cable back in the Teensy
identified itself with the raw hid and pid # as a port selection.? With
this setting the USB cable plugged in?no longer interferes with the
"Filter" settings and "no audio" as described earlier.? I also verified
that I am still able to reprogram the Teensy from the IDE. Windows 10 updates
can be a pain!?Sorry to have bothered you but knowing that no one else had
reported the problem and you were not experiencing?that issue allowed me
to?just dig deeper.? Of course not being able to use??a COM
Port?selection?may be an issue later with CAT implementation?and
WSJT-X.? Cross that bridge when I come to it!???

but since our are working, about the best we can do is guess what might go
wrong.

The trace has been cut since day one. I also have problems with the
notch filter not working.? When I select it the notch screen comes up but
neither rotary has any effect on the notch. Maybe there is an issue in compiling
the sketch although the one or two warnings I receive are what others report and
what you have explained prior. This is a mystery! This is also a new
teensy?and audio adapter (3rd pair, first set just stopped working
altogether, thought there might be a problem with the 2nd set so ordered a 3rd
set, getting a little expensive.)? I'll try retry the old teensy and flip
flop audio adapters and see what happens and report back.
Glad yours don't behave that way so there must be something in mine
causing it.? Wonder if you could publish a list of features not working or
with bugs might help with the chasing of rabbits down non-existent holes. Thanks
for the reply.

but monitor the JackAl audio out. Did you cut the trace on the bottom of the
Teensy?

Jack, JAckAlV095 Another bug that you are probably already aware of but thought I would pass it by you.? Discovered it while using the debug monitor. With the USB connected to the computer the JackAl audio will turn off except as noted below with these filter settings. SSB Filter- audio on only with filter NONE selected CW Filter- audio on with filter 150, 300, 400, NONE.? Audio off with 600, CUST Could not figure out why when I plugged in the USB the JackAl audio quit until I accidently selected NONE on the filter. Second Teensy audio board does the same thing.? The ubitx audio out was unaffected with the USB plugged in. I was trying to troubleshoot because I eventually want to use CAT with FT8/WSJT-X, USB plugged in all the time. Rick KN4AIE? |
