Yosemite drive through permits

Just realized that this year you need a day pass to even drive through.

I have a Inyo wilderness permit to hike from Rush Creek to Happy Isles. I have to enter Yosemite, leave a car at Happy Isles, drive through 120 and exit Tioga Pass and park another car at Silver lake and start the hike.

Is my Inyo wilderness permit sufficient to enter Yosemite to leave a car at Happy Isles?

Unfortunately, day permits are gone already for the day I am interested. If my Inyo wilderness permits don't work, then I have to leave a day early, enter the park after 4pm, leave my car and exit at night.

Any advise?

Back country permits will be your ticket through the entrance¡you won¡¯t need a visiting permit. Enjoy!?

Hi Ken

Thanks.?

The day permit also has interesting wording. The permit is valid for 3 days from the day of the event , I don¡¯t think there¡¯s a need to enter that day.?

You can enter on any of the 3 days for the permit.? It's changed from a couple years ago when you were forced to enter on the first day of the pass.??

Ken, can you confirm that a wilderness permit for INYO National Forest is sufficient to allow a person to drive through Yosemite.

I found conflicting information on Yosemite's "Plan Your Visit" webpage.??

The way I read it, you need an entrance permit UNLESS you have a reservation or wilderness permit IN Yosemite.?

Do I need a reservation to visit Yosemite?

Yes, if you are driving a vehicle into or through Yosemite National Park between 6 am and 4 pm (peak hours), you must have one of the following with matching photo ID:

  • ?(valid for three consecutive days for unlimited re-entries)

  • A reservation for a??Upper Pines, Lower Pines, North Pines, Camp 4, Wawona, Hodgdon Meadow, Tamarack Flat, White Wolf, or Yosemite Creek
(Reservations for campgrounds?outside?the park do not provide access to Yosemite during peak hours.)
  • A reservation for?,?,?,?, or?
  • A reservation for private lodging or vacation rental in?
(Reservations for lodging or vacation rentals?outside?the park and in communities other than these three do not provide access to Yosemite during peak hours.)
  • ?
  • <<<<<< A reservation for a Yosemite??>>>>>> (emphasis added)
  • Commercial use authorization
  • Special use permit
  • ?

Do I need a reservation to drive into the park if I have a reservation for a campground or lodging accommodation located?outside?of Yosemite National Park?

Yes. You must have a peak-hours reservation to drive a vehicle into the park unless you arrive before 6 am or after 4 pm.

Yes, that is how I read it (Yosemite wilderness permit) and that is why I got the day pass.

However, I am going to Yosemite this Saturday for overnight wilderness camping. I will ask the ranger?this specific question, if I don't call them beforehand and ask them.

Early birds not only get the worm, but also can enter Yosemite without a day pass. 10pm-6am!

It is 4pm - 6am
