Is the link to the Sierra North PCT Section Hikers.? I started the group about 5 years ago.? I've hiked the Sierra North both ways (S-N, or N-S).? Casey Cox is one of the admins there.
His old Sonora Pass Resupply website does not exist anymore.? He had problems with the Forest Service continuing there.? I've messaged him to get an update on what options exist for Sonora Pass, Carson Pass and Ebbetts Pass.

Quick update - Casey Cox confirmed that Sonora Pass Resupply is permanently closed, and another resupply outfitter - Zero Day Resupply - is also likely to be permanently closed. Think both these happened during COVID.?
So, hitch to KM north is the closest resupply option. Or Casey said that twice-daily shuttles were running between the pass and KM last year but not sure if that will continue this year.

Sonora Pass is a good resupply point. From the pass, you have two options. Either hitch west on highway 108 to Kennedy Meadow North and resupply there. Optionally, you can hitch to the east then north on 395 to Bridgeport. First option is best. South Lake Tahoe via highway 50 is a better option than Carson Pass for resupply. If you didn’t want to go into town you may be able to resupply at Echo Lake Chalet. Not sure if they are accepting packages since I heard that the post office there has closed?? If you time it right, there is usually trail magic on Ebbetts and Carson Passes. Great stretch of trail.

TM Food lockers should be available. The TM Lodge will be open so that parking lot, the one at the Wilderness Center should be open, others as well. The store and PO *may* operate on a limited basis, perhaps out of temporary quarters at the lodge. I believe the "stables" road by Lembert Dome may be closed as I think that whole area will be under construction. However, It's only January and there are a lot of moving parts with all the construction projects, loss of parking at TM and the Valley, the Glacier Point Road project/closure, Covid, and ongoing staffing issues. We've already seen some flip-flopping in decision-making so I'm kind of considering all or most messaging to be tentative at this point and they should have things firmed up later in the spring. I can report on what they are currently considering or think they have decided but I strongly recommend checking back a month or so before your hike.?

We used to park there instead of all other options when hiking out of Lyell or Rafferty.
Is that area to be affected by major TM overhaul ?

I did the same trip mid augest. 2017. ?Crossing and snow was mostly gone by then. ? I would have been VERY uncomfortable earlier. ?Whenever you go fitness is most important!

Dieter...I can say from personal experience in 2021 that the Mt. Williamson Hotel and Basecamp was excellent in everyway. It is truly a hiker family run operation and we thoroughly enjoyed every moment...from the pick-up at the Onion Valley Trailhead by the legendary Lone Pine Kurt, to the clean clothes loaned to us whilst the laundry was being done, to the complementary cold beverage upon arrival.? Lauralyn and her family are doing it right.? The message from Inyo NF, while initially a bit confusing, was later clarified that a reasonable exit of 24 hours to resupply was perfectly ok.

As others have noted, it is indeed too early to tell. But if it remains an above-normal snow season, the trail will present an array of challenges (and some benefits too) that hikers should prepare for. I wrote about these factors after a late July 2017 South Lake to North Lake trek. You can see Wanda Lake and Evolution Basin looking rather wintry in the middle of summer!?
