Not sure if this comment is useful, but I have heard that Whitney exit permits are much easier to get from the VVR area trailheads (Mono Creek, Bear Diversion, Bear Ridge).? For example, looking out 6 months from today (7/16) at 10:45 PST there are permits
still available for exiting Whitney Starting from all three trailheads.
