They probably don't want people creating new campsites within the 4 mile limit while it's closed.
It'd be nice if they could close just part of the campground one year and the other half the next year, but from the look of it, this is a pretty major reconstruction.
Since one of my backup treks this year is a NOBO JMT hike,? I will probably have to camp 4 miles from TM in Lyell Canyon, then hike all the way to Cathedral Lakes the next day.
