You can park on the main road in near the Mammoth Ski Lodge, but you must park in the areas that have signs like "A" ,"B" , "C"....... That's where all the people park going to the Devils Postpile. I did a section of the JMT, parked there, took YARTs to Tuolumne Meadows and finished at Reds. Parked my car there for 5 days. No problem! Enjoy your hike.

Ideally somewhere both legal and likely to leave windows intact. ?
