Game 1 REK 2 @ Zephyrs 0 -- REK starter Claude Osteen allowed just three hits, two to Roberto Clemente, in going the distance. The REK scored on a Don Mincher sac fly in the sixth and a Willie Stargell solo HR in the 9th. Bobby Richardson had four hits
for the REK.
Game 2 REK 8 @ Zephyrs 1 -- Willie Stargell hit a three-run HR in the top of the first. Zoilo Versalles added a three-run shot in the 2nd?and
a two-run double in the sixth as the REK unleashed a 13-hit attack. Roberto Clemente had 3 of the Zephyrs four hits.?
Game 3 @ REK 9 Zephyrs 4 -- Zoilo Versalles hit a two-out grand slam in the bottom of the 2nd?and Gates Brown followed with a solo shot to stake the REK to a 5-0 lead. The home team would tack on three in the third as Hoboken starter
Don Lee had a bout of wildness that included walking in a run. The Zephyrs bats would come alive with Pete Ward, Joe Cunningham and Tom Haller collecting RBI to cut the lead to 8-3. The visitors would threaten in the eighth inning as they loaded the bases
with no outs before Cunningham lined into a triple play that touched off a celebration for the REK fans.?
