Yes, thanks for the answer. ?Someone else mentioned that someone in the Ham community might later be able to produce and sell the stands. ?Maybe Santa brings me a 3-D printer.

Hi Andrew,

I have no idea about stand availability, sorry.

To answer your other question, when you flash the micro SD card and put it into the Quadra and restart it, HamIQ will automatically start up.

Does that answer your question?

Saw your post regarding getting a 3-D printed stand from Mike.? Do you you if the stand will be made available for purchase?? I know the design file is available for free, but I don¡¯t have a 3-D printer.

Also, once I flash HamIQ to a MicroSD card and install it into the device (which is on order), does the program boot up when I restart the machine or do I have to open it from the main menu?

Hi Don,

Yes, I had a productive phone conversation with Mike from Inovato yesterday. He mentioned that hams are roughly 1/3 of his customers. And he's very supportive of HamIQ which is my new name for HamPi for the Inovato Quadra. He's very excited to have our community's interest!

I spoke to Mike about the CPU throttling that happens during the extreme steps that the building of HamIQ puts the device through and so he's sending me a special 3-D printed fan attachment to help me cool down my device. He also extended technical support for me to build HamIQ, so I took the opportunity to ask a bunch of technical questions to understand the device better.

I also explained the importance of maintaining both USB 2 and USB 3 ports so that interoperability of radios would not be affected. For those who are not aware, I discovered quite some time ago that the USB cat control on some modern radios prefer USB 2 ports to USB 3.

HTH and 73,

Has an invite to the group been extended to the Innovato folks? While they may not have any interest in amateur radio, what they see their product being used for may be of interest to them, along with, they might be a helpful resource for members here if we run into any challenging issues with their box.
