Re: New Quadra-4 + USB dongle + WiFi

When Balena Etcher reports that the flash has failed, what that means is that it makes a hash (fancy checksum) of the image it wrote and compares it to the hash of the source image, and if those two hashes (fancy checksums) don't match exactly, it reports the flash has failed. It does mean something was written incorrectly, but in such a large image, that write failure could be anywhere...in somewhere critical or non-critical.

I'd be wary of using an image that failed. Getting reliable media takes a load off my shoulders at least. But, YMMV.

I've had similar problems using Imager. When I use Balena Etcher, it takes a long time and Etcher reports at the end that the flash has failed. I've found, however, that the flashed card works fine.
