I have an old studio photograph of Mr. & Mrs. Henry
WACKERBARTH of Sanborn, IA. The photograph was taken in the 1890's at the J. D.
Long Studio in Sanborn, IA with the couple likely in their 20's at the time. Based
on limited research I was able to gather the following information regarding
this couple:
?
Henry WACKERBARTH was b. 25 Mar 1872 in Germany to parents
Jacob WACKERBARTH (1843-1925) and Anna Gertrude STEINMETZ (1846-1932) who were
married 2 Mar 1869 in Germany.? The
family came to the USA in Feb 1887 and Henry married Therese or Theresa Pauline
Mathilda NEITZKE (1877-1938) on 9 Mar 1899 in Goewey, IA.? The couple had four children including Carl Adam;
Gertrude Augusta; Fredridck William; and Roy Herbert WACKERBARTH, all born
between 1900 and 1918.? Henry died 26 May
1938 in Sioux City, IA and is buried in the Roseland Cemetery in Sanborn, IA.? At the time of his death his son Fred
WACKERBARTH was living in Casa Grande, AZ; his brother Adam WACKERBARTH was
living in Chehalis, WA; and his daughter, Gertrude SCHMIDT in Melvin, IA.
?
His wife Theresa was b. 10 Sept 1877 in Germany and came to
the USA with her family in 1882 settling in Osceola Co., IA including her
parents Carl Friedrick Erdman NEITZKE (1848-1923) and Augusta Johanna KLINGFEIL
(1848-1918) who were married in 1876.?
When she died in 1938 in Melvin, IA her obituary listed the same family
members identified above and three brothers John NEITZKE of Paullina, IA;
Herman NEITZKE of Ocheyedan, IA; and William NEITZKE of Breda, IA.

I’d like to get this treasure to a family member and would
appreciate you contacting me if you are a member of this family or know someone
who might be.
