Re: Installation world map, cont.

Hi John

The displayed map you are looking for will come _automatically_ when the time of year is not on equinox like now (begin of spring or autumn).

This is not a bug, it is just nature!

The way how night and day is reparted these days in march (and also september), with twilight near the poles.

Off the top of my head, I do not know what the keystrokes are to change the display. However, I do know where you can find and read the manual:?

Hope this helps and 73,

World map dislay #github

I want the ¡°usual¡± grey line display on the Mercator map. Closest I can figure is to select ¡°night¡± and that is just a black amorphous blob. What/where is the right combination of selections to get this corrected??

Re: Newly flashed USB does not start (only Grub command line)

Hi Dave

Thanks for the quick answer. I now flashed with Etcher 1.13.3 under Arch Linux (EndeavourOS). It boots until a moment with a lot of ACPI errors and then the line
"ALERT! UUID=6e...... does not exist. Dropping to a shell."

Then comes a Busybox shell with (initramfs) at the beginning of the last line.

Please try switching from Rufus to BalenaEtcher. That seems to work for a lot of folks.

Installing HamPC's included software list to Ubuntu 22.04.1 LTS

So; I have a PC I will be taking with me to install in my cottage shack, currently running Ubuntu 22.04.1 LTS, and was thinking about what software to install on it. I noticed that the HamPC distribution contains a pretty comprehensive list of ham software for linux, but it comes as an image with an OS and bundled software.

What I'd like, is to take the list of software included in HamPC and install it all on my Ubuntu PC without the tedium of installing each of the dozens of items separately. Is there a straightforward way to do this?

I am not interested in overwriting my current Ubuntu installation with the HamPC image, nor am I interested in dual booting or VMs; I just think it's really neat that there's this nicely curated list of ham software available and I'd like to install it all to my preexisting setup rather than starting again from a clean slate.

Thanks,

Adrian VA3QAK

Re: HamPC installed on Hard Drive

Edited

Ok Figured it out, I used my USB to HD adapter and the system saw it as a USB drive, used etcher to put it on the drive and had no issues with that.
I did have to unzip the file and get to the raw img file as Etcher did not like it as a compressed file, it would get to 2 or 3% and it would say it was completed.
It took about an Hour to get it on the Drive as it was USB 2.0 once done it booted right up without any issues at all
WSJTX works great but found that I could not use flrig as it would come up with a warning that I need to click on "initialize" and was left with one option for the warning popup which was close and once clicked it closes flrig, leaving me no way to use flrig at this point, there are a few other app's that either will not open or open then close.
Overall, I think this is very good work and hope to see more updates as it goes on.
