Ernie,
I'm glad you're enjoying life on the road... Btw, we had to pay a leasing fee of several hundred a month to park... Where are you finding $5/day camping? And where do you get your electricity and water and waste dumps?
Back to HamPC...
Are you sure the password you think?you're typing matches what is being entered into the password dialog?
Here's what I mean... On my Evolve III Maestro laptop, there is some sort of "Function Lock" engaged and when I type the letter "J" for example, a completely different letter/symbol/number is displayed on screen. I have to hold down the "Function" key to type the actual letters...
Can you try opening a word processor or other text editor and see if when you type the password, it actually matches what you typed?
Also, if you can't get wireless working, you can always plug in an Ethernet cable...as a workaround...
Thanks and 73,

Ernie,
I am beyond excited that you are able to run HamPC on an
Intel-based Macbook Pro. You are the first user to tell me you
have done so!
Dave, if
there is any experimentation that you'd like me to perform on
my MacBook, just say the word.? I'd be happy to help any way I
can.
My XYL and I lived full time in a 40' RV for two years.
Unfortunately, it was too cramped for the things we want to do
-- such as play radio and antique computers and do "real"
cooking... An RV kitchen is simply too limited for my XYL who
is a gourmet chef. So we went back to brick-n-mortar living
and got rid of the RV. We may rent an RV in the future or buy
a tiny camper for vacations, however!
I gotta'
admit that there are several things I DO miss about being on
the road.? I miss my real radio shack with my tower and beam,
and I miss my shop as I'm a "do it yourselfer" of sorts and a
woodworker.? Every time I need a tool, I have to go down to
the local Ace Hardware and replace the 23 of it I have in
storage up in Washington.? Having said that, there are
certainly benefits to this lifestyle.? I don't pay anything
for utilities; they're all included in the $5.00 per day
parking fee.? Rita and I have seen and experienced so much
together being on the road, and the freedom to do what you
want when you want is hard to beat.? I'm 79 years old, so I'm
not sure how much longer we're going to be able to enjoy this
lifestyle, but we're sure going to enjoy ourselves in the mean
time.
You did mention being unable to connect to the network. Can
you provide any error messages and/or screen captures of error
messages to show what is happening/not happening?
No error
messages.? When I click on the network icon at the top-right
corner of the screen, I can see all the Internet access
equipment listed with no problem.? However, when I try to
connect to one of them, and I'm asked for the password to
enter, the message coming back says something to the effect
that my password won't allow access.? I know I'm using the
correct password (I designed the network), and I've even tried
other access points (cell phone, iPad, Rita's phone), and I
get the same response each time.? Not really sure how to
proceed.
If this, by any chance, is an easy workaround, your counsel
would be appreciated greatly.

Christopher,
Did Ernie say he was using a newer or older
MacBook?
Dave, the new MacBooks use M1 Arm
processor now
Sorry
for the long delay answering you.? The reason is that
Rita and I live full-time in our big RV, and today was
moving day.? We just got parked and setup.? And yes,
your software package works quite well on my MacBook
Pro.? The Mac's about 4 or 5 years old.? When booting
the Pro, I hold down the "Control" key during the boot
process, and am presented with three options; boot to
the Mac OS, boot to Windows 10 (I'm using BootCamp to
access a second partition on the SSD), and third,
booting to the USB thumbdrive with "your" software and
OS.? No need to get into any BIOS boot sequence.? I
chose the thumbdrive, and your OS takes over.? Works
great.? There are several things I haven't been able
to make work yet, but I'd like to spend some time
trying to do so before I ask for your help.? One thing
I desperately want to conquer is Internet access.? I
can see my network, but I can't connect.? I'd really
like to do this as there may be software updates that
can be downloaded, and without his capability, I'm
sure I'll be missing out - HA!
Dave, you can communicate with me any time via this
medium, but here's my phone number.
